I agree Spydutch ! A new Forum knife need not be a high zoot knife for me , something simple , affordable for most of our Forum members is a great idea . Regards MG2

An Orange Dragonfly would be very nice, or an orange FRN Salt!!!

I know what you guys are saying about not making it something that Spyderco would have to retool for, so, if that was the case, a white Dragonfly would be cool (those are supposed to be coming out, right??).

David Lowry wrote:I agree with the folks here that say we need to stick to a simple current production model. This way the Spyderco Crew doesn't have to make something old or retool or whatever.

Below is a list of knives I have come up with that seem to me they would be somewhat simple to create and engrave to send out
  1. Fully Serrated Etched Dragonfly
  2. Plain Edge White Delica 4
  3. British Racing Green Delica 4 in VG-10
  4. White FRN Dragonfly
  5. New Rookie with Black G10 handles
  6. Delica 4 with black G10 handles (maybe the FFG one?)
  7. Black Blade CPM-S30V Paramilitary with Foliage Green G10 handles
I'm sure there could be many many more options. I'm just thinking that the more complicated things get the less the chance of anything actually happening.

Actually as I have said in the past I don't expect anything because Spyderco is already going crazy out of their way with all the tons of knives they are making right now for us and everyone else. :)

Just a quick question

If the forum knife doesn't happen this year, because of the many commitments by Spyderco why don't we just do something as a group with kristi and Sal's permission.

I was speaking to the SFO engaving is $28 base cost and $3 per knife. A simple knife which everyone can afford and have something memorable engraved.

(Self Proclaimed Spydie Fanatic 2008) or Sal's Signature 2008 :p or anything really and just call the SFO and on a pre-order basis for about 1 month before the actual process of engraving.

I realize I'm simplifying the entire process, but it can be done on a smaller scale by many people that call Spyderco why can't we do the same thing on a bigger scale.

of course everything will be done by discussing & voting. What knife and what to get engraved. Plus it could be an interactive process and there would be really no knives left over since this is a pre-order system.

take care & please bear in mind i'm an eternal optimist :D

take care

I will gladly start it if you want. But we do need some ideas on which knives to narrow it down to.. Here are some of the more promising ones in my opinion..

White FRN Delica PE
White FRN Dragonfly, (Edge to be determined)
Sprint Run FG Manix, (Edge to be determined)
Orange FRN Dragonfly, (Edge to be determined)
Para Military PE Black Blade Green G10 Handle

Any other ideas guys?

Tony since you are much more knowledgeable within this forum and offered first. I would very much appreciate if you could take charge and make it a reality. I would be doing this knife a disservice since I may not have enough time to do it properly.

Take care and thanks for the kind offer bro

Since this will probably be a pre-order system can we please pick a knife which has a SE and a PE, because then people can pick the edges that they want and how many. Then EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY :)

Sure I guess. I was going to see if we get any response to the poll I jsut put up, and then I was going to take highest rated ones and do another poll to narrow it down even more, I was thinking of then adding different variations on the blade, to see what does the best, maybe if we all come to an agreement then maybe Sal may be more oblidged to actually making them, sound good?
