Well, earlier it was said why am I bothering to complain about a sheath that scratches a brand new Forager when I plan on using the knife. I feel like for this kind of money there should be no problems with the knife or sheath. I don't think that just because I'm going to actually use something means that it doesn't have to look nice before I put marks on it.

I went back and read some other posts and it would seem that I'm trying to contact via email the same guy that made your aftermarket sheath. I didn't email him until earlier today but I hope to hear something soon. That's a very nice sheath you have for the Woodlander.
thanks!!
i'm glad you are contacting Mike :)
he's really easy to talk to via email, and especially on the phone (he's a funny/ personable guy).

the coolest thing about the sheath i have, is that i could have modified it anyway i like. other popular sheath makers are quite fixed on their trademark design.

on a side note, i remember asking Mike for an all OD green sheath, but when it arrived, it was black on the back. he asked me if i wanted it that way and i said i didn't think it would look as good... i can admit now i was wrong in that respect! :p

Unfortunately I can’t elbow grease my way out of these 4” long scratches because I’ve been told by the designer of the knife that polishing too hard could easily mess up the finish on this knife.

Caly E and some others were kind enough to point me In the right direction for an aftermarket sheath and I’ve already sent out an email to the maker.

I wish that Sharpshooter sheaths were taking custom orders as I would love to have one of their leather sheaths for my Forager. I recently bought a BRKT Teddy with a leather handle that came with a Sharpshooter sheath and it was as much a work of art as the knife.

I’ll have to try that gun wax trick and see if it helps.
Thank you.
funny you mentioned sharpshootersheaths KLJTech, b/c the story I mentioned
above (post#13) was in fact a sharpshooter kydex sheath for my Aurora lol
and my Scott Gere kydex sheath for my Mule Team causes Zero scratches on my knives ;) :)

I've never used any other their Kydex sheaths, the Sharpshooter that came with my Bark River Teddy is leather and they did a great job on that.

The scratch on my Forager are about 4" long and then a couple real small ones but there is no polishing them out. I think that the finish on these knives can pickup superficial scratches on the polished surface if the Kydex isn't perfectly smooth near the opening. I washed out my sheath before using it but now I can feel just a bit of roughness around the opening and that is probably what scratched the knife.

hey the wet Flitzwax trick worked wonders....no probs w/the sheath afterwards... :)
but i figure it just goes to show that "stuff" can happen even with the best of kydex sheathmakers (where a "stray" particle/contaminant/etc gets trapped inside the sheath accidentally during the manufacturing/folding). As long as it works ;)
If you're gonna be using the Forager though, I wouldn't worry too much about it ....but it would be different if you were a "collector" :p
