Beautiful job !

Sal, if you make one, I will buy two!! :D
Tim
Why only two ???
What's wrong with you !

I will buy AT LEAST 2 ! (that is the correct answer from everyone in this forum - so just go ahead and Cut/ Paste that line there for Sal to see

Great job Tricod. It looks an absolute treat. Just what this great little knife needs. Extra grip, jimping, wonderful low-rider wire clip. All we need now is for it to be able to open a beer bottle and we're sweet :)
Cheers

Heck, if you can mill out the scales like that, I can handle the rest. I never thought I'd buy a stainless Dragonfly, but I would just to get the VG-10 blade for this.Tricod wrote:Well, I might be up for some orders. I can CNC out the G-10 without to much trouble. The hard part is drilling the blade. So maybe.
But I need to ok that with Sal before I would say yes for sure.
Plus, he would do a much better job then I could.
I think this is the best custom mod I have seen here, with the possible exception of the CF Adventura. Outstanding work!
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

same here, i thought sal and the crew had made it. very nice work!uhiforgot wrote:Indeed
When I first saw the pictures I thought that there was either a sprint that I hadn't heard about or that a new proto was being shown. This is REALLY impressive work. The fit and finish of the scales, the embedding of the mini wire clip, consistency of the jimping, and even the torx head screws had me thinking this was a factory job. It even looks like a logical next step for the evolution of the DFly.
AMAZING work, Tricod!!!!

Funny you say that :) . A dragonfly is my favorite beer bottle opener I have. That point where the top ramp meets the spine of the blade is perfect for it. Takes a little practice to perfect it though.datan wrote: All we need now is for it to be able to open a beer bottle and we're sweet :)
However funny story. On the photos. Look at the thin metal between the Hole and the back of the blade. You will see a little tiny crack. That is from opening bottles with that knife for a couple years. The crack doesn’t move or flex at all. Just once it decided to crack. I know weird. Oh well. I still use it. Maybe it would do that if it was VG-10. :)

That looks great. I posted a while back that i was hoping for a Dragonfly 2 with updated FRN scales, improved ergos and most importantly jimping. I would probably carry my SS Dragonfly way more if the jimping was there. I just don't feel like I get a very secure grip on it. The G10 really dresses up that knife.
Sal is right to consider copying your knife, but I still am in favor of a fully updated Dragonfly 2.
Would you consider putting some jimping on a knife for me?

Inspired by your great job Tricod, I got courageous and added some jimping to my SS D'fly. Not as professional as your work, but it makes a world of difference in secure gripping power. Now if I only had the skill to convert to G10.
I used 2 cutting wheels with a spacer in between on the Dremel. I have to say that I was so nervous of messing up that my hands were sweating which made me even more nervous about messing up. I practiced on 2 junk knives before the Dragonfly. I think it came out alright.

That looks great. Isnt it amazing how big a difference it makes. I agree as well, I hope a Dragonfly 2 is in the works. However in the meantime a sprint run of G-10 with VG-10 would be... SWEET.
Even with my modified ones I would still buy one or two.
For the rest of y'all I'm still waiting to hear back from Sal as to wither I can modify your knives. I would be interested in doing them, I just want to check with Spyderco first.
Friend of mine saw it the other day and liked it so much he insisted I make his Native G10. Yes I know it exists. Just hard to find. So thats my next project.
Thanks Again everyone for all you compliments. Its great to see that others like it. I didnt expect the kind of response that its getting. So thanks everyone.
