I'd rather have linerless g-10 handles. The temp is light for its size and thats what makes it happen. The g-10 on the model is so thick anyway that if you ended up breaking the handle, you probably mistook the knife for a hammer or something. I am big on unlinered g-10. The stuff alone is just so strong and pretty light for is strength.

I generally do not care for metal handles or polished CF. CF is also pricey. FRN just does't seem upscale enough.

I'll go with not too rough G-10 in any color except black or pink.
Not really all that slick ;)

Ill have to throw my two in for the G10 in green burgandy or black, all in 3D. I think it would look killer if it was polished burgandy in 3d but thats just me.. Thats my first choice. Then id have to go with SS with the new acid etch for texturing. Maybe a different pattern than the cricket. A grip pattern would look nice. Like fingers wrapping around and such. Sorta like how the Biscuit has the milling "fingers" out of its frn. But I would also have the edges etched aswell to have more grip. Blades of S30V would be verry nice imo. Lately, Ive been liking it more than VG-10.

I'm neutral on the color/handle material/blade steel. Whatever is chosen will be more than sufficient for my needs.

The only thing I ask is to make it ambidextrous.

Tan canvas micarta? Just throwing it out there.

Peel ply CF would be cool, maybe etched stainless too.

White 3-d FRN
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.

The model was disco'd for lack of a good maker. We had planned to make it in Golden, but we're pretty busy right now.

I will be speaking to a maker with the capability and capacity shortly.
While we're on the subect:

6AL4V Titanium
G-10 (color?)
Carbon Fiber
Aluminum
Stainless Steel
FRN (3D or flat)
Other

Please let me know first and second choice.

I'd like to see silver twill G-10 very much. But is it realistic?

I mean it can't be seen much lately. And if it was to cost as much as CF then I vote for use of colored CF right away. :)

If above doesn't qualify then:
1) Polished G-10 or Micarta (OTHER than black color). (with SS liners)
2) CF or SS

I would have to see a proto to firmly decide, but fondling my current one, I'd like green G-10 (same as the old one) on one side, and titanium on the other, since one of the things which (to me) identifies a Lil' Temp is the green G-10, plus it's not the usual black, and suits the lines of the current Lil' Temp more than black would anyway. Let the new Lil' Temp remind us of the old one, but also leave its own mark rather than always being compared to its predecessor.

Second choice... that's a tough one. I'd probably say all Ti or SS, maybe done Ti ATR style (with indexing holes only, I personally felt all the other holes were overkill).

FWIW, if there's a vote, I'd ask for the 3D handle to be kept, or failing that, thick handles so that we can contour them ourselves (with appropriate respirators &c).

Thanks for asking for our input Sal!

Hello Sir. I appreciate the opportunity to voice my opinion.

Handle Material

My 1st choice would be foliage green G-10. Color really doesn't matter just as long as it's G-10. This is by far my favorite handle choice for this model.

My 2nd choice (trailing far behind my 1st choice) would be Carbon Fiber.

PLEASE no metal handles. :) The only exception to this I could see would be using Ti if the new model is going to be a type of compression frame lock. Otherwise, metal handles would detract from this design in my opinion. Too heavy, too slick to grip, all around too cumbersome.

Oh yeah, please no FRN for the Lil' Temp either! ]Blade Steel [/color]

Any of the premium US steels would do if manufactured in the USA (S30V, BG42, etc). If produced in Japan, VG-10 would be fine.

Basically, I would like to see a redesign that I can carry as much as I carry my originals. I bought one of the first leaf point Lil' Temps ever released and have carried it pretty steady since then. Soon after the first one, I added a trailing point model as soon as that blade style was released. I carry the trailing point even more then the leaf point. The Lil' Temp is still my favorite design if I could only own one pocketknife.

Overall, I'd like a carry/work piece not a safe queen. :D

First: G-10 (green) or peel-ply carbon fiber
Second: titanium

It would be great G-10 on one side and titanium on the other!! :)

Won't know 'til I try it but I have to say, the "current" Lil'Temp has the best hanle of any folder I own. I hope it isn't changing too much.....

I'm so glad to hear that there will be a reincarnation of one of the greatest folders ever! :D

My top two choices include handle materials that are lightweight, reliable, and allow for a secure grip. I think that these handle qualities are important for stout folder like the Lil Temp.

1st --> G10 - dark gray or foliage green
2nd --> grippy CF like the peel-ply used on the recent military sprints (not glossy!)

Handle materials to avoid... any metal (aluminum, ss, titanium)

If we are talking about regular production run my first choice would be G10 (any color BUT black, blue, or green) followed by CF (the same variety as on T-Mag and Caly 3).

If it is a sprint run, I would reverse the order.

Sal,
How come micarta was not even mentioned?
It would be my first choice especially if it is not black.

Talking about G10 colors … It would be great if we can have some pictures of those that can be considered.
If you have different samples of G10 (or micarta) there are plenty of people around here that would be honored to take pictures showing materials as close to original colors as possible without adding extra headache (or expense :D ) to Spyderco crew.
What do you think?

Handle material--
1) Ti (w/ integral compression lock)
2) Burgundy Micarta

Blade Steel--
1) Japan - Hitachi Blue (hey -- I might as well dream! There's enough ZDP-189 already anyway)
2) USA - CPM M4
