I was really excited for the superhawk but i wish it was a more premium steel like s30v Ill still get one but it just seems like its such a nice knife and then they kind of skimp on blade steel, dont get me wrong vg-10 is great but a knife of this caliber deserves better. But that abalone kopa looks awesome can we get an ETA on the kopas?

come on everyone lets try and get Sal to bring back the Q!!!

I personally prefer VG-10 over s30v and I also feel the two steels are on equal ground as far as quality goes. It just comes down to preference.

Thank you Mr. Blonde. Very good presentation.

Now, The Stretch 2. It looks to nudge out the BG42 millie and R2 as my favorite all time spyderco. I really can't wait.

The superhawk looks really good too. Joe

Now I want the Stretch 2, Bi-Fold, and Superhawk. My budget will kill me.

Hmm... personally though, I feel that the the SS and Kraton combination on the handle of the original Stretch looked better. Keyword looked, not worked. Might have to get myself one of the original Stretches as well.

On behalf of Spyderco, Thank You Very Much Wouter!
Your pictures are TOPS! You did a fine job. I am sure that your efforts will be much appreciated by all. For my part though, Being in charge of logistics all day, I feel I had too little time to speak with and to take care of everybody. So, please bear with me if I was not always available. I'll be contacting you and we'll meet before the IWA, OK?
Jurphaas :)

BTW: My personal favorite? Hands down the Strech II - It will easily replace my old and trusted Ti-Police!

Great shots and report Wouter!
I'm glad I was still able to make it for the last 10 minutes of the show and some time in the bar. That CF Caly Jr sure looks nice. My favorite was however the green G-10 Anso folder. I sure hope that that one will make it into production! The bushcraft knife was great as well!

I enjoyed the show a lot. Very nice to meed the Spyder crew and fellow Spyderholics. My favorites where the Strech II, Caly IIIcf and the Mini-Spyderfly. That is one sweet bali! I have to agree with Jurphaas that the Strech II and Caly IIIcf form a bit of a series. The share steel, handle material and lock.

Thank you Jurphaas, Sal, Eric, Ed and Gail for a enjoyable and educational afternoon!

Hi Wouter,

Many thanks for the nice pictures and the report.
It was s great day meeting Sal,Eric,Gail,Jur, Ed and al the Forummites again.
Lots of familair faces and also lots of new ones, it was nice talking to everybody.
From now on I will start saving lots of money because there were soo much nice new knives which I would like to have in my collection.
The first one in the long list will be the ZDP Endura followed by the new Stretch :) (jummy) also the ZDP/CF Caly is one to have.
But lets take it one by one.

Again thanks Jur and Wouter for a great day, see you soon. ;)

kind regards,

Werner

That Stretch 2 is really getting under my skin. Coming back to the thread again and looking at the pictures made me notice even more details. That blade is going to be one of the all time best cutting/slicing production knives at it's price point ever. Once again Spyderco quietly pushes the standards, without fanfare or hype.

I wouldn't care if that blade was on an FRN handle it would still be a winner. Add the whole package together and you have a knife that gives better performance and value than most customs I see, never mind the other companies.

What a year. :spyder: Joe

Time for wave 2! :D

The Ralph Turnbull T-Mag sported the same dull CF handles as the Caly III and Stretch II. The magnetic lock is a cool feature. It’s made from rare earth magnets, hence the tang stamp “rare earth”. I like the blade profile a lot, looked very stout and practical.

The P’kal sported some refinements. The sliding button was enlarged and I had the feeling the overall knife was a few per cent bigger and thicker. It improved the handling IMO. I also noticed a few extra spots with more aggressive jimping. The jimping –not seen in pics- has an unusual patteren of one big scallop and two smaller ones. Even though the G10 edges over this jimping, it still works really well.

The Ladybug 3 in both FRN and SS versions. These will be mandatory items for me. I hope we can convince the Spydercrew to make a special run or two in the future, I like to see some colors in this model.

The Citadel is a large full blown automatic knife. A shorter version was announced for the Dutch and German markets, thank you Sal! The bidirectional texturing, developed many years ago by Spyderco for the Native series, isn’t as aggressive as it may look. It won’t tear up your hand.
