My AC-130 Spectre Gunship boys hung with the standard art we were wearing on the Puffs and Spookies back in the WW-'Nam...

Image

.....but no one who faces this lives to complain about their art being dated. :D

Image

Even our newest NATO Allies do their part to save the art......

As does my old CAF unit in Waco, Texas.

The Ruskies have their own PC versions.

And old warriors come back in new paint schemes....

Some go to extremes.....

...but the Shorts "Sherpa" was an ugly airplane to start with. :D

Nose art is classified as folk art and is disappearing as fast as the calendar pinups that inspired it. It showcased the bravado, fears, and character of the grand old men who flew these aircraft in the gravest of our days. May their art and the memory of what they accomplished and continue to accomplish to this day never fade - political correctness be damned!

[quote="jaislandboy"]thanx for the Pink Floyd edgucation Java.... ]

Brian, If you really want a Floyd feast, find some of the videos they did at Knebworth with the extended version of Dark Side of the Moon (circa 1975) or Run Like **** shot in the drizzling rain (about 1990 or so). The lasers were all refracted and reflected for one heck of an interesting show. I love the Pulse DVD as well.......

Gun control is an accurate targeting system and the howitzer to make others listen.

That Sneaky Marine is me!

You can read the full story at http://www.bleedingonion.com titled ‘Sneaky Marine’!

I painted those pictures in the camouflaged (with a few others that liked what I was doing) during the first gulf war in Saudi Arabia. Why? I was bored. Those pics were taken at the Port of Al-Jubayal. Although I do not think you can see it in the pictures, there is one helicopter that has a silhouette of me holding up fingers in the peace sign. The top photo was the first helicopter I painted. I started on the head and breast, everybody else joined in. I painted the middle finger on the bottom of a helicopter. Others have Elvis, and a rooster (crew-chief's nick name was Rooster).

I have the pictures and my journal in storage to prove it!

And feel free to contact me.
