I have them both. They are different knives, the comparison of which should not result in mutual exclusion. I only have 21 Spydies so I'm not an expert in that area. :D The Manix fits in a nice leather sheath that I got from L. L. Bean and the AR fits in a handmade sheath I got from Dave at Lifter's Leather. I consider them both to be works of art in metal.

I never participate, so here goes...
***I have never handled a Strider knife***
Ok got that out of the way. From the looks of it, both knives are top notch. Having handled the Manix, I know what a robust folder it is, and can only assume the Strider is as much or more. I have never really liked the looks of the Strider AR or GB, but their Ti Framelocks look amazing. At ~$400 that's too steep for me. I would end up with a Manix, or more likely a Chinook II.
I do covet the Strider DB however. The concept of a little 3.5" fixed-bladed, 1/4" thick, Tanto point, is truly hardcore. Someday I will have one. :)

Craig,
Thanks for the review and pics. Always a pleasure to see and read.

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Howdy Craig!
Yeah, adding an O-ring on the AR's thumbstud is a neat trick! Seems that yer AR has a newer clip design.. Speaking of the Manix, its one helluva Spydie to beat! :spyder:  I can't agree more with yer take on this! :D

I do covet the Strider DB however. The concept of a little 3.5" fixed-bladed, 1/4" thick, Tanto point, is truly hardcore. Someday I will have one. :) [/QUOTE"]
I have a DB, and can testify that it's one **** of a fixed blade. You can literally slam it, point first, into the concrete as hard as you can, and watch pieces of concrete fly. Afterward, the tip of the DB in unscathed. Truly amazing. The ability to do this has much to do with it's leading edge geometry.
When I carry my pistol, the DB is my back-up fixed blade, and rides just in front of my holster. It's small and nearly unbreakable, literally. The DB is one of the few Striders that literally are sharpened pry-bars, and that's precisely how it was designed.
One of these days, I need to pick up a Manix.

The DB is a killer knife, good to hear even concrete fears it. :eek:Jimd wrote:I have a DB, and can testify that it's one **** of a fixed blade. The Manix is a beast of a knife, and a wise man once told me:
"You're always safer when yer carrying a Manix."
Huh, I think I just heard my wallet screaming...
