I've been using the white eraser--the ones for pencil--on my sharpener with great results. By the way, the 204 is great and the ultra-fine stones get's blades sharper than sharp (if that's possible). WOW!

There ya go. Now switch to a steel wool scouring pad instead of a plastic one, and you'll have arrived at the right answer :)

I realize that what should happen is that the metal scouring pad gets "sharpened" by the stone, and clogs it up even worse. However, due an extremely complicated quantum tunneling effect, that you'd need to understand M-theory to even remotely fathom, this doesn't happen. Instead, the stones come out squeaky clean in seconds, no muss, no fuss, no special chemicals or erasers, no pre-soaking.

by the quantum tunneling effect, you are refering to the tow states a metal scouring pad can exist inn at the same time?
Both inn the pores on the "stone" and on the outside.

Couldn't have said it better myself. By the way, I bet know one here knows what the M stands for.

Keep 'em sharp,

"M stands for Magic, Mystery or Membrane, according to taste."

I figure if Witten isn't sure, no one is :) I remembered seeing a quote when reading about M-theory (that's reading about it, not trying to do the math!), and google came to the rescue.

Just tried a steel wool scouring pad (Brillo pad). They did come up nice but I think I'll still use the eraser for most of the time, but giving them a 'deep' clean every month or so.
