I bought the gift card, but think I’ll wait to get something in the future. Already bought 2 lil native variants this week and asked for the Rock Jumper on that crazy knivesshipfree sale for Christmas. I want to get the native chief lightweight, but have a MagnaCut serrated on pre-order.

Is the native chief a good knife for Spyderedge? Or is it too slicey and plain edge makes more sense?

I concur about the Military 2. I did not get one myself, as I'm holding out for the CruCarta, and my original Military will hold me over till then.

I did get to play the role of enabler though. On Saturday, my co-worker who knows I'm the resident "knife guy" saw me using my digicam OG Military, and was asking about it. I pointed out the sales, he now has a digicam Military 2 inbound as his first .

I agree with the Military2 deals being pretty awesome. I also thought the few dealers that discounted the fresh releases were pretty great. Straight to the virtual shelves with up to 60% discount is pretty fantastic!
Still curious which knife had the deepest discount though. I didn't do the math on everything but I know a few were heavily discounted. Probably given away with a loss.

Six days was pretty intense! Seeing those wish list knives, discounted, was extremely tempting. Over all, I maintained some level of self control. I did spend a lot on presents for a few friends and the entire family though. All discounted. So I feel it was very successful. The Christmas of knives is back for 2023!

I agree as well. One of the only purchases I made was the CruCarta Military2 preorder for $144 from SMKW.

I would’ve broke my “Never Preorder” rule and preordered the Catcherman Sprint Run for around $86 and SpyMyto Flash Batch for sub $200 from SMKW at their discounted prices but they only showed out of stock and I wasn’t able to order them.

I haven’t been because I’ve never preordered a knife. Personally, I just think it is unnecessary for knives.

Also, from what I’ve observed, many knife retailers that offer pre-orders don’t actually understand how pre-orders are supposed to work and they constantly oversell and leave people feeling more inconvenienced than if they just waited and bought the knife normally.

BHQ is reputable enough that I would not worry about getting burned by them at all. Still though, it’s impossible to know how many others have preordered already and there’s no guaranteeing when the preorder will actually arrive. You may not get the knives you pre-ordered from the first batch the retailer receives but you will get them eventually. (Unless it’s a limited production knife because I’ve heard unfortunate stories of people missing out because the retailer oversold preorders.)

At the significant discount SMKW was offering, I would’ve looked past how ill-advised I consider preorders to be and done it. Both of the models I was interested in were limited production though, so it makes me wonder if that’s why SMKW wasn't offering preorders for them at the moment.
