I think it has always been a popular colorway. I could be wrong, but that is my guess. Similar to St. Nick's exclusives.

This, along with the fact that the Manix doesn't get as many custom orders as the PM2, Shaman, P3, N5, etc. The blade coating is unique too, setting it apart from standard DLC.

I did hear some of the 400 could have been a quality control issue… but again grain of salt. The flat vapor DCL should be cool, just hope it stands up to use like the normal one.

Both are plausible... I remember the St Nick's PM2 dropped and then a coupe months later they randomly dropped a couple hundred more.

And I don't know if 1200= normal though. It could be more or less.

Edit: The actual order was for 1500. The rest didn't pass QC.

It is a shame about flipper/scalpers, but I guess it's part of the game. I had to pass on this one also, but I have the M390/Brown G-10 which is basically the same thing without the coating.

800 REC manix 2- sold out in minutes.

600 Fradon Lock pm3- sold out in hours.

It's either REC colorway or the manix 2 model that is pushing it. Or both.

Colorway, and it's always been hyped by socmed influencers since the Para 3. Prices for any of these at the secondary market are way too inflated, especially the Para 3.

I think I've read the owners of REC talking about their particular color of PVD coating as having a higher attrition rate in terms of passing QC compared to regular DLC - that was during the REC PM2 drop 2 years ago. And one of their staff said on Facebook before the drop that only around 800 passed QC.

Snagged one of these bad boys too! IMO the Manix would be the one to call "the avocado" versus all the other models in this colorway, based on the shape when it's closed.

I am a little miffed at REC for tacking on that shipping insurance charge after going to checkout, as a standard addition without my approval. I didn't notice it until I hit the submit payment button. Thats a real slimy way of squeezing a few extra dollars out of your customers... Not to mention they marked it up over MAP when most other dealers don't do that with their exclusives. But now I have the REC exclusive itch scratched, so I can focus my exclusive purchases to other dealers.

Definitely the most competitive exclusive drop I've taken part in so far; but an easy transaction overall. Their website was a little slower but it remembered my payment information. I did have to confirm my credit card number at checkout, which surprised me and I had to scramble for my wallet.

Overloaded servers do some weird things. I know on a Mule drop I tried like 10 times to get an order to go through but the site kept crashing. Finally I got one to go through with a confirmation page. About 10 minutes later I had two order confirmations... had to call to cancel one so they did not think I was trying to cheat the system.

you guys have no idea how much all of this means to me. it's been a rough week of traveling for work and having very little time to be online, or even access at all. i'm still traveling, but i'm on a 7 hour layover right now, so i finally have some time to sit down and collect my thoughts for a few. anyway, between the stress of travel, the hope of grabbing this exclusive, and my recent comments about the ayoob and subsequent frustration with some of what i've seen here on the forum the last couple of weeks, i've been feeling the need to pull back a bit around here. but to see that there are people legitimately concerned with whether or not i was able to get a knife i wanted... it's a little silly, but it really does mean a lot. it feels like family and i really appreciate you all, especially given the timing. rick, you're too much, dude.

oh... here's an idea of how crazy the week has been for me... i actually traveled to denver, made time for a rushed visit to sfo right before closing (and a little after... sorry about that if you guys are in here), and i didn't even take a picture while i was there. talk about being scatter-brained. i ended up not buying anything there, but only because i knew i was going to try to get the manix the next day. if the subway bowie had been in stock, it would've come home with me. the two guys i took with me both bought knives though, so i'll count it as a win. that was tough too though because they each bought a knife that is on my list and then harassed me profusely for the next two days for being the fanboy and not buying anything. hahaha

back on subject... i made an account with rec and made sure to save my payment information in the site before the drop date. i also had to confirm my card number, which i was ill-prepared to do. like i said, i had slipped out of a meeting to get my phone from our rental car to make sure i was ready, but i walked away from the car in search of better signal and left my wallet sitting in the car. when i saw that i had to re-enter my card number, i'm sure i looked like a goof panic running back to the car for my credit card. i also noticed there were two items in my cart and freaked a little, but i wasn't about to fight with it with only two bars of signal on my phone because i saw it was only a few more dollars. i didn't get to see that it was shipping insurance until after my purchase. i've noticed a lot of companies are doing this now and i don't like it. don't offer me free shipping if you're going to charge me for shipping insurance. that should be included in the free shipping, or it's not free. at the end of the day though, $3 wasn't coming between me and this manix. other than all of that and the stress of not knowing if it would work or not, it was a very easy process for me this time (much easier than when i bought the magnacut mule team). i remember feeling relief and surprise when it went through. so much so that i went back to the product page to see if they were still available and they were already gone. even with so few pieces for sale, i can't believe they sold out in 3 minutes.


i'm super stoked to have this one on it's way to me after all this time of waiting for them to make a manix in this colorway. i'm happy for all of you guys that managed to get one also. i wish i was able to get a second one so i could offer it up to one of you that missed out. hopefully, you'll be able to find one for a reasonable price, or at least something else that you'll be happy with in it's place.

In an interesting side note about the shipping insurance, I placed my order for the Teal PM2 with REC, I declined the shipping insurance, they threw it in for free with my shipping notification.

With the Manix in the interest of speed I went with it. So not sure if that's a one off or not.

They advertise that they include it free for orders over $500, but if you only ordered the PM2 that wouldn't be applicable. Interesting

Has anyone's Manix shipped? My tracking number still shows USPS awaiting the item.
