Avoid pizza before sexual experiences, unless of course papillon is used as it leaves for a hands free experience. :eek:Simona wrote:Maybe this thread will end in Off Topic, it´s maybe good idea :D
We can continue speak here about pizza, our sexual experiences and papillons.

Slightly OT,smcfalls13 wrote:The problem is that their business practices trickle down to the customer. When Benchmade refuses to sell to a particular dealer I use, not only do I have to pay MORE somewhere else, but half the time, I end up getting mediocre service.
Why should I buy an overpriced product, from a dealer I don't care, because Benchmade decides that is how it should be?
Their business practices affect the customer, but indirectly.
Remember there is two or more sides to every issue and unless you are one of the involved parties, you likely have a very limited understanding of what the issues are. Even more so if it is based on internet bulletin boards.
And while I have no problem with people excercising their purchasing choices based on what is important to them, remember that turnabout from the same philosophy is fair play as well, no snivelling allowed. Simply stated, feel free to shop and chisel for the lowest price, but when someone says they'll do the same job you're doing for less, or can obtain what you're selling for less, no whining. Go in with yer eyes open.

This can be true, but Benchmade's pricing policies are well established and advertised(in a manner of speaking) I have a very limited understanding of the Vex issue, but my biggest personal issue with Benchmade is the price fixing. The rest of the problems are just icing on the cake.jimbo@stn24 wrote:Remember there is two or more sides to every issue and unless you are one of the involved parties, you likely have a very limited understanding of what the issues are. An excellent point. One with which I'm quite familiar. I work in the Grocery business, so quite often, there are others selling the same thing for cheaper, or paying good employees better.jimbo@stn24 wrote:And while I have no problem with people excercising their purchasing choices based on what is important to them, remember that turnabout from the same philosophy is fair play as well, no snivelling allowed. It's competition, and I respect that, I don't fault my customers for going somewhere else to get something cheaper, it gives me more motivation to get them back in my store.
We're a small family owned store, can I tell you how fun it is to compete with chains that can offer products at half the cost we do... :p

Most prisoners didn't have the benefit of legal counsel BEFORE they did what got them locked up. BM cn probably afford a lawyer to tell them whether or not they'll get away with this. The Deacon wrote:Yep, 9 out of 10 of the residents of any prison, thought the same way. And they'll all tell you they're innocent too, or that what they did was ok because someone else got away with it.
And they WOULD have to get away with it. Unlike copyright, trademark defense is compulsory; failing to defend your trademark when it's infringed risks losing the exclusive right to its use. Assuming the round hole even is a defensible trademark - and I'm not willing to make that assumption, as previously noted - BM must *expect* legal repurcussions from infringing it.
So, again, the fact that they went ahead and used the round hole anyway is somewhat telling.
Of course, this all assumes that BM's fishy story about a secret agreement isn't actually true.
I have to admit, I'm terribly amused by the zealotry I've seen in this forum lately. Destroy all our BM knives, and post proof on the internet, all because of suspicious business practices? AHAHAHAHA...

Actually BM using the round hole doesn't specifically tell us a thing.
One or two people saying some outspoken things on the anonymous internet hardly makes a bunch of blind zealots.

This thread gets my vote for funniest thread ever. It even beats out the kniferbation thread. I also want to take this time to thank all the BM fans for stopping by and helping us relize why this forum is such a great place.
There ain't no rules around here. We're trying to accomplish something.

smcfalls13,
Thanks Scott.
We seem to have similar backgrounds in retail just I have a slightly different perspective than yours. While I don't like fixed pricing, I accept it if I am buying a Saturn car, Sebenza, or other products such as Oakley sunglasses, and if I don't think the value is there, I choose not to purchase. But it does mean that Bob's Cutlery recieves a regular amount of profit for every knife that he sells and provides limited protection from Sally's Slicers that may try to sell for less while running a business out of a garage. As much as I can my business is with our small local folks.
Keep up the good work Scott.
I think I've read it somewhere, "all good, just different", :) .
Thanks Scott.

Yours is the more normal perspective. Mine is very negative, but I'll admit that :p
I'm cheap, and if I'm going to give out my money, than I'd better get what I pay for. I refuse to pay for a name, and that's what a lot of the price fixing does. It inflates the prestige of the company by raising the bar on who purchases it's products.
Then again, it could just be jealousy, because I don't have the kind of money I'd like to have to spend on Sebenzas and expensive custom knives.

Karen, you need some pointers in the foul language department.Karen wrote:Maybe I should end by saying that those people over at benchmade are a bunch of &&%$ &%& #*@% 'ers . :D
You just said &&%$ &%& #*@% 'ers, correct?
Well your intentions were pure, but the proper grammatical spelling of those words is as follows:
&*@#$ *^* !@#$'ers,
A more appropriate term would be $%^$%^#&, and if you were really upset, than you could try ^&*^&*^#^ &$#^$#* %$@$#@.
That last one's pretty tough to pronounce though. Better practice it. There will be a quiz next week, and it will not open notes. :p

Oops, typo :cool:zenheretic wrote:How about cans, will it open cans? Or locks? How about plastic clamshells holding butterflies?
It will open butterflies, but not cans. If you can open cans with your butterflies, than I really think you're using the wrong butterflies.
