The Last Gun You Bought
Re: The Last Gun You Bought
If you've ever wanted to get into the AR game, and you should, then the time is now. I'd also look at Palmetto State Armory for best bang for your buck with ARs. A little splurging and budget stretch could get you into their JAKL platform as well.
I recently bought my first roller locked MP5 clone and it's been stupid fun and cheap to shoot. You can pick up the base mp5 clone pistol for $950. You'll save money shooting 9mm vs 5.56 too.

Those look nice. I'm browsing the jakl line right now and it looks good for the $$. may bump the budget up to $1400 or so.JestersHK wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 2:25 pmA little splurging and budget stretch could get you into their JAKL platform as well.

I know a local store that has a genuine hk mp5 for $500....but it's .22 lol. one day I'd like to shoot one.
I like the idea of a 9mm carbine since I often carry 9mm pistols, less ammo types to stock. Plus I'm usually not doing anything crazy long range, so 9mm would work ok for how I shoot.
May you find peace in this life and the next.

If you are looking into a PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine) I'd take a look at the Henry Homesteader as an option. Ruger has their PC Carbine, but I am kinda 50/50 on a lot of Ruger products. Smith&Wesson has some, but I don't know much about them. Just Right Carbines seems ok from what I have seen, might be worth a look. Also another less often mentioned brand is Rock River Arms, and I'm inclined to think they make good stuff.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
My latest 2 over the last year. Guns are a huge investment for me so, I tend to be very discerning and immerse myself in research (including the required spreadsheet to compare numbers and stats). This FN 509 MRD was on my top 3 to pick up if I found a deal. This one showed up on gun broker as NOS at a dealer and I picked it up for less than MSRP on a Shaman. No internal mods yet, but a flat trigger and PMM comp are planned for the future. About 615 rounds in and not a single problem.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
My other recent purchase reversents my first wheel gun. I was wanting a 3" so the Taurus 605 defender, S&W 686, Ruger SP101 and some J frame models were up for evaluation. I knew i wanted a wood grip with texturing but not really a hogue rubber grip. I found a local FFL whom could source this and gave me a fair price.

If I could buy a new gun, it might be a S&W 627PC 8 shot .357 Magnum.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
I'm considering the new Ruger/Magpul hybrid RXM pistol.
Ruger mechanicals ensconced in a Magpul grip frame.
And for a very stupid reason.
It is available in my favorite "Green New Deal" color,
to complement my Green Olive Drab Magpul stock
on my Ruger Predator 6.5 Creedmoor.
I ran down a dealer and used their contact form.
They did not respond.
This is not uncommon.
If you are in business
and your phone rings
do you answer it?
If a business does not intend
to monitor and reply to email or contact forms
they should take them off their website
and save everyone a lot of time and resentment.
Thank you. I feel much better now.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have similar problems and tend to gravitate towards businesses with better principles and customer service rather than value and discounts in recent years. The RXM is a good looking model, I do prefer when they make a frame that will finish cleaner between the frame and magazine. This is my hangup and is purely aesthetic based. @Mad Mac

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Not a new gun per say, but had a 28 hour turn around time on my new YHM R9 suppressor. Finally got to finish out my MP5SD clone.
This one is just a fun gun SBR and with the Lee's Sporting lower and a super safety makes happy little brass rainbows and puts a smile on anyone's face who shoots it.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Slightly off topic. Anyone here edc a gen 5 glock? I know the tenifer finish is pretty durable and tested but how does glocks DLC hold up to edc. Mainly in hot climates.
Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Oh wow. For one and a third Shamans, I can have a new Sig?
Though to be fair, the Sig would be lousy at opening packages from Amazon.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
I think with the correct ammo, it would open Amazon packages very well.... once

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
This isn't exactly a gun, but it's a gun related toy.
Last week a friend called up and told me her kid wants to learn to shoot a shotgun. I was somewhat competent 25 years ago, but I eventually moved away from scatterguns. I'm sure I'm no good today, but lack of skill never stopped me.
Back in the olden days, I used hand throwers. Throwing stuff is fun, but sometimes it's good to focus on the task at hand, namely, breaking clay targets. So I went online and clicked the "Add to Cart" button.

A great looking thrower. I've had a similar, pedal operated thrower since my teens. It is so effortless to reset and throw all by myself when I just want a quick bit of practice. The tube fed model you have looks like a terrific upgrade. Hope to hear/see more about how you like it. @RustyIron

Re: The Last Gun You Bought
Wow! I thought I was going to see one of those hand throwers. You went all out.
In the meantime, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a Ruger/Magpul RXM with a gray grip frame online and picked it up at my friendly FFL. Found an OD Green grip frame at the Shop Ruger online store. They now have all four colors available.
The RXM is a gen 3 Glock 19 clone, but has one trick the Glock lacks. The fire control insert is easily moved between grip frames. I swapped out the fire control insert to the new frame myself. And the RXM is considerably less expensive than the Glock.

You will notice that the serial number is on the fire control insert and is visible through a cut out in the grip frame. There is no serial number on the grip frame like a Glock has. Right now only compact grip frames are available but word has it that a full size frame and a subcompact frame are in the works. Glock magazines can be used and some people are not waiting around and are chopping the grip frame themselves. It will be interesting to see what modifications people come up with.

It seems like if Glock is smart they will copy this trick eventually.
