Also, through carry and use, G10 will tend to smooth out just a bit. Still plenty grippy but it looses that aggressive harshness and becomes a good friend. ;) One of my favorite handle materials.

Thank you DouC-3, timlara, and kbuzbee for the excellent G-10 info! This forum is truly a wealth of knowledge! Thanks to DougC-3 for quoting and linking the spyderco.com website. In the future, I'll head over there first for my schooling on products and features, and then return here for expert opinions.
My first (and only) handle material is FRN, which I now see is kinda entry-level. Fitting, since it's my first! I will EDC my knife on a low-rider concealment clip (already enroute), so in/out of pocket considerations are key. G-10 looks fantastic and sounds like it will be good for my purposes. Just too bad that colors don't show true on some computer screens and monitors. Guess that's another reason to make the long trek to a good knife shop! Was also considering carbon fiber, as I like the look. But assuming it's as fragile as the carbon fiber bits on my Ducati, I don't think it would stand up well to the car keys, change, etc rubbing against it in my right front pants pocket.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience with this newbie. Sorry if I hijacked the thread. I'll research more carefully before posting and hope y'all have a great weekend!
Carry on (Spydies, that is)!

No problem, that's one the reasons some of us hang around here. I've only had experience with the type of carbon fiber that's on some of the Japanese-made Spydies so far, and it seems pretty rugged, but I don't carry anything else in the pocket with it. Others could give better advice about the American and Taiwanese-made varieties. But I'm pretty sure you won't go wrong with G-10 in the meantime. :)
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod
Note to self: Less is more.

The smooth CF is pretty strong but it can scratch. The peel ply is almost indestructible. Tough stuff!

I was carrying my green Para2 in case I bumped into any Spyderco reps at the Lone Star Knife Expo today.
