This isn't a huge bombshell, but Sal mentioned the CQI prototype for the Karahawk over on BF. Hope the new proto ends up satisfying.

The proto that we saw in May wasn't acceptable so they're making a new proto.

Pretty sure Sal was referring to the dark blue S110V PM2, not the PM3.

That's what I was thinking -- just wanted to be sure. Anything is possible around here ;)

Well shoot, got myself all excited for nothing, thought he was talking about the shrunken PM2....I guess the dark blue S110V is just about as good, man it sure is getting hard to keep track of all these new models in the works.

If that becomes a production model I'd love to see it like the Manix s110v but FRN instead of FRCP but if it's a sprint I'd like to see CF, Micarta or G10

From BF on a g10 Harpy sprint

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... G-10-Harpy
I didn't get any resistance to a G-10 Harpy sprint. The question presented was what steel to use? Also, what color G-10?

Niiice! That's the best news I've heard all day. :) I'm hoping it will be SE then. Otherwise, JD will be sorely displeased. :p

quote="sal"]52100 is a ball bearing steel. Most ball bearing steels make pretty decent blade steel. Especially where edges are concerned. It is my favorite steel to forge. It is hard to find in sheet. Actually, I would like to do a run of a model in 52100, but I'd prefer to make it in Golden, so it will be a year or so.

sal[/quote

Now this would be epic, especially if it was combined with the PM2 platform. :D

I'm waiting for the FRN lightweight. ;)
I'm working on one, but it is challenging to do what I would like to.

sal
Looks like a lightweight chapparal is in the works, I hope this one gets made !

PS: seen on bladeforums

Can't wait to see what form that takes! I just picked up a CF Chap', love the size and shape, but one that's a bit easier to reconcile thrashing remorselessly would be cool (after all, the CF is just too pretty to beat up).

Always thought the Chappy WAS a lightweight.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

Sorry to clutter this thread but you just HAVE to see Hollands Ti Chap!

Somewhat surprised at this announcement, I saw 3 prototype Chaparrals in Amsterdam but there was no talk of an FRN version. There was one that was certainly light, and it was the one I was most interested in, but it was quite the different from FRN and not one you'd want to abuse. Color me intrigued.

Agreed! It's some kind of a statement of knife use philosophy  :D

Maybe something like the glass fiber on the Bradley Air?
