some mock-up shots of different wood. Of course will look much better when done, but helps see how the wood matches/contrasts

The darker shade of the blade works well with redwood burl.

Took a close up of the tang (the UPS truck drove fast :D ) Interesting seeing the layers and the bevel.

Mine showed up today. Got one with a pretty lame pattern, the lines are all pretty much straight :( . The other is mediocre, but not quite as cool as some of the photos here (with the double rows of circles). I won't deny that I'm a bit disappointed. Never have had great luck, but was hoping that at least one of the two would have the more attractive patterning like many others here. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. At least I managed to get them at all.

I hate to hear that. Maybe someone who planned on doing purely cutting tests will trade with you.

I'm sad that Halpern doesn't have option 4 in black anymore. They only had earth brown last time I checked. Jealousy describes my feeling right now. I hope mine shows up today!
Sorry to put you there, but soon you can have joy.

Nice!

I like the loops.

sarguy wrote:Nice presentation and handle choice! I'd love to see that with a sheath that had stainless rivets, just to make things "pop" (I can't believe I used that term).
Thank you! Stainless rivets would be cool. I will have to look into those....

SeanH wrote:just got off the phone with Halpern Titanium, Inc. I ordered a set of option 3 scales in black, they are out of the limited edition run.

Wile I was talking to them I asked if they had were going to make scales out of any other materials (like canvas micarta?) and they said that there was some talk of doing a run in carbon fiber but said that they would need to charge around $100 for it and weren't sure if anyone would buy them for that price. I told them that if they made them in CF, I would buy a set.

If any of you are interested in a fine set of CF scales and are willing to pay the price, give Halpern a call and let them know there is enough demand to make it worth their while.
Yeah, CF would be cool, but we will see.

I don't think so. If the blades were going to range that much it would have been nice to seen several examples so that we could be prepared for something not as nice when opening the box.

Thought I'd post a pic of a part we haven't seen yet. I like how you can see the "sandwich" from the spine.

Great pics, can't wait to get mine Tuesday! I talked to Melanie at Halpern Titanium today and they've gotten a lot of orders over the past few days, and while they're sold out of the LE scales, they are taking pre-orders!

I saw this on ebay, Mule 7 number 75 of 200? coming with Certificate of Ownership. I am wondering is this a special edition of the Mule 7? Mine just came with neither the number nor the Certificate of Ownership.

no its not special. its just the collector club model and paperwork. actually cc models are some what unpopular vs normal runs. if its a user than it may not matter to you but safe queen and for serious collectors they generally prefer non numbered knives.

hi guys,

I picked up my damascus-mule at the customsoffice in Emmerich this morning. It reached Europe in a week! Couldn't wait to make grip instantly. I chose cocobolo (instead of the snakewood I mentioned before). For the moment it looks good I think. I will finally make home-made micarta scales on it. I am very happy the damascus-pattern is wild (on both sides). I saw here on the forum some more straight lined-damascus which I didn't like that much. The sucker bit me in my thumb an hour ago. D*** that thing is sharp!Just enjoy the picture :)
