I have a suspicion....

This hasn't been shown anywhere else, not in the video with Eric and not on any other dealer social media...

Is this an upcoming dealer exclusive!?

They haven't done SE Cruwear and this is shown in PE, I don't know if any of the dealers are brave enough to commission an exclusive in SE because of all the haters. I think either this was shown by mistake prematurely, or this is a GP Knives exclusive.

It could be a GP Knives exclusive but I don’t think it was shown by mistake because it looks like it might be in a video that GP Knives is recording with Eric for their own coverage of SHOT show.

We should find out more in that video.

I think we will also get to see the Ayoob sprint in a video and hear Eric speak about it! GP Knives is recording their video of SHOT Show coverage and they posted a sneak peak for it on their Instagram Story, before they posted that Ayoob update.

I didn’t think to look at the knives on the table until they posted that Ayoob photo and I think I spotted it on the table with the other knives they’re showcasing.

What do you guys think?

I went and checked some Ayoob videos on YT - this may be the first Spyderco I would prefer in SE over PE. That must be a packaging slayer! Plus it looks incredibly cool! My hat is off to Spyderco for bringing this design from back in 2001.

I believe that the Cruwear one is the mysterious Exclusive Sal said someone had ordered. I still think the Sprint is to be announced.

I asked GP Knives via Instagram and they told me that this is not an exclusive from them and they think it’s a sprint run.

Besides being an outstanding people-poker (not my thing), I’m not seeing the allure or practicality of this knife. :/

For those who don’t use knives to inflict harm on assailants, what purpose does the Ayoob serve for you?

Thanks!

You could almost say it works in a similar way as how a tall chef's knife allows you to get the edge onto a cutting board before your knuckles hit the board. The angle just makes things more ergonomic so you don't have to twist your wrist way down to get the edge/tip against what you're cutting. For mid air cuts there's also a mild semi hawkbill action close to the heel of the blade, I suspect much more so with the SE version than with PE, and it makes very aggressive pull cuts. It does everything else any other knife can do, it just has an ergonomic advantage in some situations.

The C-60 Ayoob in full SE is a "mega-beast" of a cutter and has long been one of my very favorite full SE models from Spyderco.

But I still maintain that most people will like the plain edged version and the full Spyderedged version equally. Both edge types do extremely well with this design. I do believe that the popularity of this new Sprint Run of the C-60 will far exceed the first two times we've had the C-60 Ayoob model available. There are so many new fans of the C-60 that have never gotten a chance to own one yet.

I don't believe that this C-60 Ayoob model ever got it's just and fair accolades that it so richly deserves IMO.

Outstanding people-poker lol, what you don’t stab someone at least every other day? Ergonomics are outstanding, super comfortable (although thin) handle, negative blade angle really excels on pull cuts with my PE, I can imagine how crazy it’ll cut in SE. And for such a large knife it almost feels like nothing in my pocket, but most importantly it’s just a very cool old school Spyderco classic!

Holy smokes....if this means SE Cruwear...oh my.
I have actually wondered how "Cruwear" would fare in a full Spyderedged blade. This is really a pleasant surprise. However if they use another blade steel for the serrated version you won't hear me complain at all.

I love that G-10 handle to be sure. This would be a great model for custom scales>> although there is nothing wrong with the ones I'm looking at.

Thanks to Brother Mushroom for the news update!!

Should be easy enough to make aftermarket scales for these. I'm thinking this will look great with Micarta... a CruCarta Ayoob, if you will.

Thank you also for starting the ball rolling with all of these, JD! Can't believe 2 years went by real fast.

I understand that the knife can be used for knife-tasks. It’s just that the blade angle and the aesthetics aren’t attractive in the least to me. I’m quite curious about the cutting and handle ergonomics, though, since I haven’t handled or used one yet.

I see that this model is well loved (for good reason), so I’ll have to find some videos about it to see it in action before I decide to buy one.

That was me about 10 years ago when the last sprint run came out, and when you could still buy versions of the originals for dirt cheap. Then one day it just clicked for me...hard to explain really but it went from being quite honestly what I thought was one of the dumbest looking knives to being brilliant and absolutely beautiful. Of course by then, secondary prices were insane and I either couldn't let myself pay what people are asking or they just didn't come up for sale at all which is more likely the case these days.

But, I put quite a lot of value in form following function, and I think I just didn't understand it. Once I could wrap my head around it, the whole thing just looked different. Now I like it so much I have it as my phone's background lol.
