Dang Jeff, you get a badge of honor and merit for saving that precious nectar of the gods. Excellent taste in hard liquor as always. The way I learned that lesson is from the local liquor store owner who was in the middle of mansplaining to me that you should always turn the bottle upsidedown before opening to lubricate the cork, when he didn't that one time and snapped the cork in half on a rare bottle of Blackadder! Will always remember that and as a result haven't had any losses yet I'll boastfully let you know...

Ah! I never heard that before, but I'll definitely try it next time. Never had that happen before. The cork was extremely dry.

Yes Sir, looks like a fine barrel proof bourbon to which I'm quite partial myself! Unfortunately the small batch stuff doesn't usually make it to old Europe. What's the proof on it?

This is as close as we get to that around here. I kept the bottle as a decanter for my personal bourbon blend. Another one I can highly recommend is Jack 100 proof. Their single barrel can be hit or miss yet that 100 proof seems very consistent. Have you heard of the infinity bottle concept?

Hallelujah Jeff, 116.8 is some hard liquor! That would be an excellent start for an infinity bottle. So you take yourself a nice bottle with a cork, I personally like flat decanters for style points. You then add whatever bourbon, scotch or other whiskey you like to it until the infinity bottle is say half full again. You then wait a few weeks to let it sit for a marriage parfait and give it a taste. The point is you never let the bottle run dry and add to your preference for your own unique blend of whisky. Add a bit of heavily peated barrel proof scotch to a smooth sipping bourbon and be amazed at the results. The principle originates with the solero system used in aged rum production, reason why you rarely see rum with a age statement like the Singleton 21.

I have to run now before the whisky police catch up with me and put me on trial for heresy...

Interesting! I've never used a decanter, but now I want to take one of my favorite bottles and just use it as a decanter in the future.

Hahaha! I have not. But I was thinking about it just last night. Looked at a couple of bottles that may be a good starting point then reminded myself I need an infinity decanter. The purist in me is having trouble. 🤣🤣

Not crazy about their bourbon, but their rye is good. This is a store pick barrel proof. Also, Castle and Key has one of the coolest distilleries and stories.

No alcohol for me the past weeks and feeling pretty good about that... Need a new bottle of scotch, bourbon, rum and cognac to replenish my infinity bottles (I'm looking at you Jeff).

Pinhook High Proof Bourbon if you can find it Max. Pinkish bottle.

Also and interesting one is Copper Fox. It is a Single Malt American Whiskey.

Recently picked this up this bottle to give it a try. It's a blend of their añejo and extra añejo finished in calvados casks. It's VERY nice.
