Finally got around to making a picture for this years contest.
Appreciate that the deadline was extended :D

Image

This year, as a dutch guy, I thought the Spyderco Stok FB50GOD by dutch designer Sjoerd Stok was appropriate to use for a calendar picture. I've tried to make a contemporary version of a still life by the old dutch painters from the 17th century. Hope that's recognisable for you guys ;)

What I like about the shape of the droppoint Stok is that it is also perfect for spreading butter, cream cheese and things like that.

Thanks to my girlfriend for the idea that kind of brings the whole thing together for me.

Thanks again for the geneous chance and goodluck to everyone. :D

I'm a big fan of the original Spyderco Techno (C158TI) and have carried it quite a bit since they first came out. I appreciate the fact that it is office-friendly and just as at home with a sport coat and polished dress shoes as it is out camping. Spyderco's Taiwan factory produces some beautifully finished knives, and I wanted to emphasize the intriguing near-mirror stonewash polish that sets some of these knives apart and can make the blade almost disappear. I'm fortunate to live in Northwest Montana, just a short drive from Glacier National Park. My wife and I have a collection of maps that we use for our explorations, and I want to thank her for the great idea to use them as a photo backdrop.

I really enjoy the concept of emulating a 17th century Dutch still life painting! I think you captured it well - I love the creativity. Great shot! :respect :bug-white-red

Thanks for your kind comment :)
Glad to hear the theme is recognisable.
Now lets hope the jury doesn't think the knife shown is too small or disappears in the many other objects :winking-tongue

This image is titled - Celebration

This year I decided showcase a knife that is often overlooked because of its small stature.
One of the many things Spyderco does exceptionally well is making "small" knives perform like their larger counterparts.
This particular variant features many of Spyderco's trademark features such as the serrated edge, round hole and pocket clip.
The knife holds great sentimental value as it was gifted to me by my brother for his wedding as a groomsman's gift.

Thank you Spyderco for hosting this awesome competition, each year the submissions get better and better!

Hello Spyderco fans!
I hope you enjoy my entry featuring the Chaparral Raffir Noble alongside my art supplies. It might seem unconventional, but this knife doubles as a unique art tool! What I love about it is that the knife helps refine the tips of my pencils and pastels to just the right point for precision work. The beautiful scale adds sophistication and intriguing color to any art tool collection.

PS Shoutout to Spyderco’s innovation team: can you make me a palette knife next? :)

I’ve been a long time Spyderco fan, having grown up only few minutes from the Golden factory. I have more Spyderco knives than I’d like to admit, but my most photogenic knife is a stepped titanium blue Chapparal. I recently started pursuing traditional climbing and seldom venture into the mountains without a Spyderco in my pack. I thought “protecting” my Chapparal with a blue climbing cam in a Colorado crack was the perfect photo op.

I chose the Shaman M4 Micarta handle exclusive for my submission. The Shaman is my favorite Spyderco design, and this variation is one I carry a lot. It is both a work horse and a great looking knife that shows its wear proudly. This picture was taken appropriately at my work in an engineering laboratory. It's right at home on the work bench where it is put to use.

This picture is dedicated to all the brave women in the world who have faced the fight of their lives. Many of us have been impacted by these courageous individuals, and we stand by them in their battle every step of the way. The strength they show us is truly inspiring. They are always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. I’m proud to carry the Spyderco Squeak knowing that part of the proceeds support this important cause. Thank you Spyderco for this opportunity and good luck to all the participants.

Yea Salty...that's deep, and a great photo. I wouldn't mind seeing that for a month, thinking of the handful of women I personally know who have survived this terrible cancer...and two that didn't years ago in the 90's when the medical advancements weren't what are available today. Very nicely done! 100% RESPECT! :clapping-hands

Hi, I was excited to learn about this contest as it gave me a chance to purchase a new knife :cheap-sunglasses plus play around with focus-stacking. Normally I carry a full serrated Shaman for when I drive a truck but just picked up a Native 5 MagnaCut for more precise use at home or office. This picture is reminiscent of how I sharpen and maintain my knives at the kitchen table with some tools and boxes around. Thanks for this opportunity, it was a lot of fun.

I took this picture at my favorite park, Fort Worden Historical State Park. I grew up about an hour away from this location and camped here numerous times as a kid. I always loved the Madrona trees that thrived along the salt water coastline. So when I saw this tree on a recent hike at the park I knew this was the perfect picture for me.
