AUS10 is a 440C rank steel. Here it is compared to CTS BD1: http://www.zknives.com/knives/steels/st ... hrn=1&gm=0

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.
The thing is that Cold Steel stated they were having "supply and delivery issues" with the steel batches they got from CTS
So they just changed the steel in their knives for their closest counterpart, that is CTS-XHP will be S35VN now, and CTS-BD1 will be AUS-10.
AUS10 has been in use for years by many companies, including Cold Steel (in their older Tantos for example, and IIRC some Kobuns had that steel),
this AUS10 appears to be closeto 440C, as AUS8 is similar to 440B and AUS6 is similar to 440A

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.

Well these three knives make up my EDC rotation these days. If anyone noticed I hadn't ben posting here and cared, that's why. I don't really carry Spydercos anymore, and I don't really have much in the way to add to knife discussion. I carry some knives and they do what I need knives to do, end of story? *EDITED* - TazKristi

I would if I lived in the US. :D
Truth is I have posted just once on the "What Spyderco is in your pocket" thread this month because I'm carrying mostly other brands as of now,
and the Pacific remains my only constant companion with a Spyderhole in it
