Knife Works Para2 up for preorder
You are paying an extra $15 to get a brown handle instead of a black one so the price seems reasonable. Good deal if you like brown or want to speculate on how much the price will go up after it sells out. S35V is designed to perform exactly like S30V so there is no functional advantage.sir_mike wrote:I found a link for the s35nv brown one. Is this a good price (ie worth the money)?

add -> Actually make that $25 more as finalknifestop charges $10 for shipping and CS has a free ship coupon code.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

If you think about it this shouldn't be much more expensive then the normal PM2. S35V is a steel they already use(and stock) in regular production (the Native 5) and you'd think brown g10 wouldn;t cost much more than the Black.

I have no experience with that dealer though.

I have to disagree here. Unless manufacturing costs have been lessened (I believe this has happened with a couple of sprints after the conclusion of regular production runs) a sprint will always cost a bit more because of the greater cost in doing a single run of knives - a popular production run like the PM2 will benefit from the economy of scale even if raw material cost is similar.wsdavies wrote:If you think about it this shouldn't be much more expensive then the normal PM2. So you are saying that the CS has the black standard Para 2 with s30v for about $100 vs the $125 that the finalknifestop has for the brown s35vn one. I dont think that is too bad for a sprint run knife. Way better than the $180 for the blue Para 2 with the M390. If the blue one was around the same price, I would have one!Sequimite wrote:You are paying an extra $15 to get a brown handle instead of a black one so the price seems reasonable. I did get my order in for the green one with the 204 steel! :)
How big a run do you think they do for a normal run? The processes for making the s35 knife would be virtually identical, you could put it in with a normal run.

Other than some incremental costs for inventory acquisition and tracking, I would guess that's right. With G10, you just change the blanks you're putting into the process. The HT on the blade will be different, but probably not different than the S35VN blades currently being used in production N5 knives, so I wouldn't guess it adds much to swap in a different but similar cost blade and change the color of the G10. But I could be wrong...

In for two! They are going quick. I just got my first Para (all black) last week and I find them to be the perfect size and shape. The Millie, although loved by many, seemed too big to me once I got one in hand. This should be a great knife and I prefer green to many of the other more "colorful" colors.

I kinda figured that too. :DJNewell wrote:If these sell out faster than the orange XHP, I'm going to be shocked. The P2 is obviously the hot knife of 2012.

Para2 is hot without a question, but I do not thinks that brown, either blue will sell that fast.JNewell wrote:If these sell out faster than the orange XHP, I'm going to be shocked. The P2 is obviously the hot knife of 2012.

- Para and Millie seem like different applications to me. Para is a good size for an EDC. Millie works well for outdoor sports like hiking and camping as well as a tool for LEO's and military. Of course, I've carried my brown Millie quite a bit lately and it is quite comfortable to carry even if it is a bit massive for skinning the occasional orange.
- The green and orange para's have a value proposition in common which I think accounts rapid sales. They seem like a reasonable price given the steels being offered.

I love CS but honestly feel the XHP one sold too fast. Surprising being orange as its a great color for us fanatics but not for the rest of the world. I'm wondering if the Nutnfancy folks jumped on it too as he pushes CS as his pick.
Not that that is a bad thing, nor is XHP. Just that 204p in green is the same cost and a more mainstream aesthetic.
