Hi Arty,

Sorry, no dates as yet. We'll let you know as soon as it's coming. This is one of "my baby's". I'm itching for production as well. We're just beginning the 2nd and 3rd versions now (Titanium).

We'll need input for handle "wishes". The plan is for the same pattern, same lock but with different exotic handle treatments. Kinda like we've done with the Kopa and Kiwi, but they won't be sprints.

Sal,

Thanks for the heads up. CF is my favorite and I'm definitely getting one, but the fluted Ti on the prototype Native 5 looked great.

The Ti versions of the Chaparral aren't fluted. Different design, but nice.

This sounds great. Finally a lock back which can compete with my Caly Jr! I'll pass on the CF version thanks ( not my cup of tea ), but a small Ti handled lock back would be too hard for me to resist. As for other other scale options : Micarta, Micarta, Micarta!

I'd like to see CF in this one. Staminawood would look good, but I am not sure about how it would work for a thin handle.
Personally, I'd rather see CF than G10. I am not into metal handles, but I know lots of people are. Perhaps, a metal handle with an inlay or partial wood overlay would work. If there weren't too much exposed metal, it could be a really nice option.

I agree, micarta would look great if it was done thick enough to be contoured like that on the Street Beat.

The way I see it, since there will be multiple versions of this one, they don't all have to appeal to the same audience, or meet the same need. Thin folders do have their place, and a definite following, but making some thin, and some thicker would broaden the market to those who want something a bit more hand filling. So, to me, a few thicker ones would be a fine addition to the mix.

Sal mentioned that the clip will be black instead of silver.

My vote would be Micarta. Preferably the same burgundy linen Micarta that you used for that gorgeous Baby Goddard sprint run. Beautiful stuff.

I'd be 110% down for that! Burgundy would suit this knife well!

I know this is highly unlikely to happen but I would love to see a Chaparral with burl wood handles. Burl wood has been my favorite since my first Helle Knife.

I would never complain about another SLIPIT ... but wouldn't it look a bit like the Native5 SLIPIT ... but in CF? I guess we'll have to be happy with the Squeak for a while :D
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

put Primitive Bone scales (à la GEC slippies) on it and I'd carry it into the grave.

...that said, I'd happily settle for regular ol' bone or an ivory micarta.
