Oregon, I really would like to know the story for that picture behind your waved Endura. ;)

Brilliant skipper, Randy Smyth, racing the Hilfiger VX40 in Portsmouth, England takes a header with his skilled 4-man crew. A puff of wind cartwheeled the boat and sent one bow into mud, under the shallow sea, capsizing the boat. No injuries. They were able to right the boat and only broke a battan. Competition would have continued the next day but racing was cancelled. You can see the picture on page 43-44 (centerfold) of August 2006 Sailing magazine.

Smyth claims that his carbon fiber multi-hull (speed demons of sailing crafts) can approach 40 knots or about twice the wind speed. He has been sailing since a kid in California and cut his teeth on catamarans. He consulted and skippered in the movies "Waterworld" and "The Thomas Crown Affair."

All the best,

oregon (who has twice skippered a Ranger 20 in the mighty Columbia River near PDX-putting her in irons the first time out)

My Mini-Manix (belt pouch) & D4 (LF pocket) always go to work with me. They're here now. My wife carries a CF D3 in her purse that goes wherever she goes.

When it comes back from being re-scaled with CF on Micarta, my Native will probably become my weekend EDC and take over when the Manix/D4 team goes off duty.

I was kinda sentimental yesterday, so sticked an old school SS handled PE Spyderco Endura (without Boye dent) in my pocket for todays EDC.

It makes strange noises when opened or closed, its not the pivot, I think its the spring... Seems like the knife needs a bath and some oil treatment, but I really dont know why this is happening, I havent used over an year now.

Otherwise I find the SS scales too slippery..

But its a nice sentimental knife, that started my :spyder: disease, I had a Pro Grip before, but this one directed me to buy more of them :)

I think I will rub the handles with 400 grid sandpaper, to make them look like new, maybe this weekend.

Otherwise, the SubCom is in the watch pocket, sweet lil beast ;)

Is that a tool or for SD?? We (wife and I) discussed this a while back and decided IWB is a better carry for SD. Too many things in the purse. It's no time to be fumbling for the thing when it's worked it's way to the bottom. Just curious. She likes the D4 but wants that (or better, a Salt) SE in bright blue FRN.

Been looking at the Lum, wasn't thrilled initially but it's growing on me.... And ZDP is awsome. I may have to give that one a go as well.

If her purse is like my girlfriend's purse, the knife is not needed for SD, the purse itself is weapon enough! She carries very sturdily constructed bags, with enough weight in them to cause major concussions, skull fractures, or other great bodily harm if swung (she used to be a reserve police officer, trained on handgun, baton and ASP, and knows how to disable an attacker :D )
