Check out the trailer for "65" coming out in March. Might be good. :crossed-fingers
Trailers should be a teaser to tantalize your interest.
Sadly, some trailers show best parts of the movie ending up with a disappointing experience at the theater.
65 does show promise, if the rest of the movie is as good as the trailer.

Saw it last week and liked it but was rather distracted so watched it again later and liked it again. It was directed by the same guy that did the Tomb Raider reboot with my girl Alicia Vikander!
Overall, it was pretty good. It was anti-Christian, blatantly so, but the overall movie was pretty good.

I saw The Thing prequel, and thought it was OK, as it did try to stay true to John Carpenter's The Thing. The problem, besides being far less subtle than Carpenter's film, is that the cast of the prequel did NOT look like people from the early 1980s, when it was set. They looked like post-2K people transplanted back to the past. It made it unbelievable that the prequel happens before the events in the Carpenter film. At least that's how I remembered it; I only saw the prequel once, when it first came out.

As for The Thing From Another World, it's a good movie, but I feel that John Carpenter's The Thing is much better. But that's just my opinion. It also is much more faithful to the 1938 novella Who Goes There, which both movies were based off of.

A couple more really good movies I forgot to mention:

The Mysterians (1957)

Mysterious Island (1961)

I almost never watch any major Hollywood movies from recent years anymore. Or very rarely. Too much over-the-top CGI that lacks soul.

I thought Contact (1997) was good. Especially certain parts of it, which were unlike most 'alien encounter' movies.

Jim
The Thing by Carpenter was fantastic.
Mysterious Island (1961) was a very good movie.
Another fantastic movie is the Wizard of Oz.

I don't regret going to see 65, but I also don't feel the need to rewatch it. The last battle with the T-Rex was pretty 'meh'.

I have high hopes for the new Mission Impossible movie. Tom Cruise is the only actor left that consistently delivers movies I enjoy. His acting is good. More importantly, he has enough creative control to deliver a good story.

That is disappointing, I was hoping that it would be more like Alien(s).

The Tom Cruise movie about time travel and Jack Ryan are pretty good. The Top Gun movies were also good.
Maverick kick started the movie industry after Covid and didn't get jack squat from the Academy Awards group.
Not even an honorable mention.

Tom Cruise is my least favorite actor and person. He has exactly one facial expression.

Bwahaha! Yes, he's a role player more than an actor. But if you watched Top Gun Maverick, tell me that wasn't a perfect follow up and tribute to the original.

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Indiana Jones, James Bond.... I'm tired of seeing new chapters written by people who hate the source material. Cruise's Maverick is still a character I can respect.

Lets not forget Star Wars. 4,5, and 6 were the best and 1,2, and 3 were OK. I did not like Jaja. As far as the other movies goes, I did not like most of them. Rouge One was pretty good.
I did some research on 65, I'll watch it when I can but I will not have high hopes for it.

Rogue One was the best Star Wars movie. A New Hope was second.

I agree, Rogue One is great.

I watched Love and Monsters last night on a lark. It was really good. Story + acting + CGI = all good.

It seems the art of making trailers has been lost, nowadays they start the trailer with a trailer telling the audience they're watching a trailer...
