I wonder if that is the camera angle? It does look slimmer in the photo.

XL is .336" thick
SS is .447" thick
Amazing!!
Another great aspect of the XL I did not expect at all - actually I do like "thinner" carry a lot (one of the reasons why I also love the Chap, which offers this in extreme)

I've been away and not paying attention...is the Stretch XL available in any "fancy" steels yet?
I would be very surprised if we would see anything else than VG-10 before 2023 ..
being that it's linerless and made in seki, it would be pretty sweet to see it in lc200n. everything is there already. it's just a different sheet of steel.
maybe i'm wrong about that though... i've been saying the same about my desire for a matriarch 2 in h1 for years and not a peep from spyderco about even the possibility. it seems that, as long as all the components and tooling exist in the same place, it should be easy to make it happen. a green stretch salt xl would make a very nice Christmas gift.

Does someone have the ability to post a picture of an XL next to the regular SS stretch?
Thanks in advance!
Here's my new XL compared to my SSS -- and 1 bonus photo with the XL next to my Pacific Salt. In addition to the handle being just a bit longer on the XL, I noticed that it was thinner at the forward finger bevel. I personally slightly prefer the grip on the Stretch 2, but only when incessantly comparing them side-by-side. What's a real eye-opener is how much lighter the linerless XL is as compared to the Stretch 2. I can hardly wait for (linerless) SALT versions of these. So far, I still prefer the Stretch 2 by a slim margin.

Actually, looking at your and others pic:
- The handle of the XL looks like it'd be a bit less tall than the Stretch 2 handle generally/overall.
.
...not only "at the forward finger bevel" (just count and compare that "squares" of the texturing) - Can anyone confirm this?
/ And: Again: So nice how the "XL" blade obviously fills all of the available space in the handle. For me only a plus, when the closed size gets just a bit longer, but one still gets a lot more actual edge to work with!!

I am a bit torn between the utility of having a longer blade, but the slightly greater comfort/fit (for me) of the regular-sized grip. Then again, I also like my Shaman's grip -- both it and the "taller" Stretch 2 grip fill my hand better. That said, it's only when I handle them side-by-side that I notice. YMMV.

Good eye (or "feeling" in the hands) in any case, to notice the difference in handle tallness!
But so you would say the Stretch 2 handle is a bit taller overall, and not just in its front area?
/ I hear you, but if the Stretch 2 also had a totally handle filling blade (like the Stretch 1 has) and by that more cutting edge, you´d have the "best of both (=the taller handle - and long edge - ), world, right?

I'd have to apply calipers to be sure -- like you, I also have a soft spot for the Stretch (1). I also prefer the original blade shape. I am very much looking forward to (someday) a linerless Stretch* in MagnaCut.

Got mine in today and it has some horrible uneven bevels. Edge is not very sharp either. Luckily I can fix all of that. Love everything else about the knife though and can’t wait to get some better steels.
I hate to report that mine came with a lock very proud of the scales and gaps on both sides of the lock wide enough to see light through most of the way down. I do hope and expect that the QC on future iterations will be tightened up a bit.
