I need to read the article in detail, but I understand that this steel's "trick" is to manage to become stainless with just 10% Chromium what gives it a better chance in achieving higher toughness. Congrats!

Very impressive, even to this layman. It is sure to be my new favorite well balanced steel!

Interesting. I just saw Larrin's photos and was wondering how a steel as tough as M4 would also be highly stainless.

If sharpening response is anything like M4, this should be an excellent steel. I'll try to read up on it more on my break.

I read the article. I need to watch the videos now, but it sounds fantastic.

Congratulations Larrin!

Looks like a great steel for any application that is in my life. Going to be getting a new lineup of fixed blades and at least a few folders in this one over the next few years, I suspect.

Excellent article Larrin, thank you.

I wonder what the pricing will be on the MagnaCut - 20CV like, or more Vanax like.

Hope Crucible decides for reasonable pricing, as I would like to see this steel in more models.

The steel will have similar pricing to other CPM grades.

This steel looks to check all the boxes I need for my knives. I'm really glad Larrin went through the work and stress on it. It looks to be can't miss for this industry.

It should also do fine with all the coatings commonly used though it looks like they aren't needed. Even the hardness ranges are right where I'd want them to be. A stainless steel that has all the attributes I want. Now that's progress.

Excellent back story and great detailed write-up, can't wait to try some. From your toughness vs hardness chart and comparisons to S30V and S35VN it seems like the steel will be especially interesting in the 63-64 hrc range.

A great read. Thank you Larrin. You may have just unseated my true metallurgy love (LC200N)
I see a custom knife in my future with your steel. Congratulations on your new steel. I see a revised book in your future with your steel being the recommended steel of choice for all around, all purpose knives

Great work Larrin, congrats.

Seems to really stand apart on toughness. Wonder if people will want it more for fixed blades or folders.

I hear people talking about chef knives, but I see a great purpose for this knife for camping, bushcraft, hunting and weekend Rambo needs. My first choice for this steel would be a large camp knife that I could bet my life on.

I hope this steel will eventually make it to EU shops for knifemakers. I can’t even find Z-Wear in Germany even though it is made here ...
