Carey Rubicon you say? You can kind of see it on one of the pics in the thread Nemo3000 started. I like where this is going... :DFerris Wheels wrote:I can't wait to see photos of the Carey Rubicon! I have enjoyed his knives for a couple years and a production version is the only option right now with his books closed for orders. I will hurry up and wait now for Mr. Blonde's additional photos.

Happily, it's not a sprint or exclusive or anything like that!FCM415 wrote:It's never too late.
Waiting is good sometimes. Let them trickle one at a time so I can trick my mind into thinking I'm not spending as much. :p
The one I want to see in person is the Dice. Not so sure how a 2 1/2" flipper will work in real life.
Yeah, I imagine that it will be a nifty lil flipper. The Dice is cool but I wanted a longer narrower bladed Domino so to me, they went the wrong way as far as size goes (complain, complain- can never please everybody), I want the Chubby out of those two new small folders so far.

Enjoy your edges folks:)

The concept model that I handled at the Blade Show last year was Ti, I believe. It was a lot more user-friendly than it looks. The ergonomics of the tang make the knife safe to use, even though it isn't a locking blade. It was comfortable in my hand despite its size and odd shape.gdwtvb wrote:About that Dogtag, Need Badly! What's the materials on that one? I see the S30V for the blade, what about the other parts? Hopefully Ti.

Cool little knife! I hope the price point is right so I can give them away for Christmas - but with Ti and S30V blade, it will probably be a bit higher than I would like... I'll still buy one for myself, though!

Feedback is the main reason this Meet is held, and why I can share these pictures online. I'm sure Sal & Eric are monitoring this thread.hunterseeker5 wrote:Are Sal and the crew monitoring this thread and/or taking feedback? I hope so. I bring it up because that blue bar on the dog tag, by eye at least, looks like it'd be perfect to have that channel milled deeper in it (to 23x3mm if they can manage it) so end-line users could just drop a Tritium vial in there. Yeah, you could get snazzy fancy and machine from the back and then cut a viewing slot on the visible face, but without getting ahead of myself, just making that channel a smidge larger would open that mod up to end-line users who didn't own a milling machine. It'd also just provide a larger well for filling with the likes of strontium aluminate for users who don't want tritium.
Just a tiny 2c production tweak. A cute flamboyant little knife like that deserves to have its own illumination. :P

I'm positive the color FRN is the same as on the previous released SB sprints. There is most likely a distortion of the color in my images, probably due to my improvised lightbox.spyderHS08 wrote:I was hoping this would be a bit of a bluer shade as some other pics online have shown.still looks good though

Spyderco 2014 Production Sample – Peter Carey Firefly
The Firefly made its second appearance at an Amsterdam Meet, if I recall correctly. The first time I saw the Firefly concept model, I think it was the original custom knife. This production sample seems to look just about the same. I think the Firefly has a great custom design look and feel to it.
If I got my notes correctly, this knife will be produced in Japan. The bolster is made from full carbon fiber and the handle is orange G-10. This should be a great EDC with a nice custom feel to it.
The approximate specifications of the Firefly are:
Overall Length: 15,7 cm / 6.18 inches
Edge Length: 6,5 cm / 2.56 inches
Blade Length: 7 cm / 2.75 inches
Blade Thickness: 0,3 cm / 0.12 inches

I had a similar idea about them making great gifts. I will buy a couple for myself and wife if nothing else!
