cool. nice work. :)
i spent the afternoon working on some new upgrades. lost a manix bearing in the process, but thankfully i had a spare from adding a ceramic ball to a different manix in the past. actually, the bearing from your old manix now resides in my newest manix. more to follow.

For me today is the -wait for it- military 2
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Para 3 LW with AWT scales. They only have the skinny version for the LW model. Definitely makes the knife more solid feeling and even corrects the off center issue. Haven't carried a PM3 for almost 3 years I think. Love SPY27 though.

These scales make it feel like a larger Dragonfly.

Those are some nice scales Jeff! Not usually a fan of the skinny models, but those look nice and comfortable.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Yeah me neither. I think if it is a choil only type model there may be some benefit of allowing more space to fit your hand. But overall, palm swells for the win. Especially if you can get a full grip behind the choil.
Of course, others think differently because they are a wildly successful aftermarket conversion. And if you have a LW Para 3 or a Native 5 LW and want something a little more solid while virtually adding no weight, AWT is a great option.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
i really wish they'd make: 1. a standard shaped manix scale, and 2. a manix lw conversion.
both of these are filling within the real of possibility and either would make me a customer. i seriously doubt i'll ever buy a skinny manix scale. i think they look wrong and i know they won't feel right either.
that p3 set doesn't look as bad to me though.

By the way, why not Endura weave or Endela, but Delica?

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
thanks! that's a good question. i prefer the endura size normally, but for a sd knife that is drawn like a karambit by the signet ring and held in a reverse grip, the endura and endela grips are too long and put the blade too far away from the hand. even the delica is starting to push that limit. i also personally think the endura blade is too long for a reverse grip.

another reason is the way the knife is carried. it sits in my left pocket to draw forward. the endela and endura both take up too much room for that kind of carry, at least for me.
this is for my weak side carry to be drawn as a last ditch effort when it's too late for anything else so i can maybe put enough distance between me and an attacker to allow me to get away. if i wanted something for my strong side in a forward grip, it would be the endura wave or matriarch, depending on whether i felt more comfortable with a slash or a stab motion.
kind of a long answer, but like most things, i've given it quite a bit of thought and arrived where i have for a reason. for most any other application, i'd prefer the endura's size, but the delica is best for this application.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Thank you! Totally make sense. I have Endura with Ernie's "hook" for a right front pocket carry but thinking of Delica weave for a back pocket carry when I have some big utility knife in RFP.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:14 pmthanks! that's a good question. i prefer the endura size normally, but for a sd knife that is drawn like a karambit by the signet ring and held in a reverse grip, the endura and endela grips are too long and put the blade too far away from the hand. even the delica is starting to push that limit. i also personally think the endura blade is too long for a reverse grip.
