I’m liking the Manix over the PM2. Questioning everything I thought I knew about myself

I love moments like these. They reignite my interest in the hobby. Things don’t get stale.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

I got called out at a public park yesterday while carrying this guy. Guy sitting in his 3-series was like "what kind of knives are you carrying?"
I never quite know how to respond to this question. It's kind of like, "ok, at what level should I target my response?"
I went full send, because I've had a few more positive knife-related interactions lately. "Spyderco ParaMilitary 2, with an S90V DLC blade."
Not only did the guy understand me, he whipped out a Crucarta PM2 and we had a great convo about other models for him to try. He also recognized my Lynch NW prybar. I was a bit surprised actually - the PM2 has a blacked-out deep-carry clip and the prybar blends right in to the camo pants I was wearing.
Say what you will about YouTube, I think it's done great things for the knife community and especially Spyderco's brand visibility.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
That’s a really cool story and what are the odds of him pulling out a Crucarta PM2 and knowing about the Lynch? Personally I watch YouTube knife reviews on a model I’m interested in purchasing but only trust a few of the reviewers out there…agree that it’s done wonders for brand recognitionkennethsime wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 2:20 pm

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Love mine, use it all the time. Great to drop in a shirt pocket at work in the shop… I tried to replace a SAK clasic on my keychain and that didn’t last BUT, between the 2, the possibilities are endless.

Oh man, now you're joining Vivi in making me want to try that Aqua Salt handle with your pics...

Thought I could remain being more "sensible" when it comes to (resisting...) fixed blade purchases than I am with folders... not so sure anymore..

... really nice summer-feeling-pic btw...
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
There is a brutal battle raging
currently between the Stretch XL SE and my new thin red line Endura (ffg CE) for the position of best general EDC folder...
When superlight weight is no concern (and most times it isn't), I slightly prefer the a bit "heftier" feel in hand and the balance of the Endura...
but the fully and not just partially serrated edge is a strong point for the Stretch XL, and so today it won and accompanies me here in the old town of Salzburg.

Was it Zac in the Wild? His channel will ask random people what knife they are carrying. I like those to see what people use.kennethsime wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 2:20 pm

“Zac in the Wild” is a cool channel, it’s neat to see what brands are used…Taylor Martin of “Best Dam.EDC” does a similar segment called pocket dump I think? and it covers everything from knives to flashlights and wallets to watches…it’s unbelievable how much stuff some people carryRugerNurse wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 3:42 amWas it Zac in the Wild?
