I got tired of debating whether or not I should get one of these, so I just ordered a brand-new Caly 3.5, G-10/VG-10 for $107.34, shipped to my door. I should have it in a few days. My expectations are extremely high, so I hope this knife does not disappoint.

I have a Caly 3.5 in Black G10/VG10 just like the one marineair is carrying in the pictures and it's a fine knife. IT's been in my pocket every single day since I purchased it about three years ago.

Had one. Nice knife but I like the Stretch better.

I considered the Stretch, loved the blade, but didn't like the clip. I will not purchase another Spyderco that does not have a deep-carry wire-clip. Yes, that's taken most of the Spyderco line of the running for me, but I love that clip that much.

Totally agree and the Caly seems to be the best clip set up

I feel the same way but with the exception of the Native 5. I will dream of the Native 5 + with wire clip but I will keep getting them regardless of the clip they have.

I like my Native 5 much better with a deep pocket carry clip :) :

Now that looks just right! Well done! Have been looking for a deserving deep pocket clip, myself. Also quickly caving to the irresistible Caly 3.5. This thread has been a big help.

The Native is nice in fact I think the first Spyderco knife I ever owned was a Native lightweight years ago. To give some idea of how long ago I paid $38 dollars for it brand new out of a Walmart display case. I carried that knife for years until every bit of paint wore off the clip. However and I apologize to Native owners . It's not in the same class with the Caly 3.5. Nothing in my opinion that Spyderco makes is in that class either.

Certainly Calys are level up to compare to Native. They are also level up in price.
Native5 is totally different story, at least in my book. I carried VG10/G10 Caly3 daily since the day they hit dealers shelves and until the day I received my new Caly3.5, which I still carry. I love my Calys, but I found Native5 feels better in my hand. The handle is little thicker and the knife a little heavier, which gives me better feel, especially when I am cutting wood or thick cardboard.
I carry both Native5 and Caly3.5, but if I had to give up carrying both knives, Native5 would stay. Fortunately, I do not have to make this choice. :)

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Thanks so much for sharing your experience in detail, bh49. It's knowledgeable/generous guys like you have helped me make "the right" choice, especially for a lefty.

My first post in this forum, although I belong to a number of others. Just received my Caly3.5 today at noon. Pin construction does not present a problem for me, fit and finish were top notch. I like VG10 as it takes and holds a keen edge. The G 10 scales were fit to perfection. The factory edge is perfect and the size and featherweight make it a great EDC. I was surprised how comfortable it is in hand when carving or doing utilitarian tasks. After some use it went into my pocket and will stay there as my EDC replacing my Lone Wolf Paul Prankster.
