Old school. Can’t remember when I bought this. It’s a nice, hefty Texas Toothpick.
Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
I've fallen back in love with Emersons, which I collected before I came to Spyderco. If I know I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting, I grab my K390 Wharncliffe endura, or one of my other Spyderco's. But for everyday carry, I like a knife that doubles as a self defense tool. And my pleas to Spyderco for thicker tips and blade stock on their defense knives have fallen on deaf ears. So I went back to carrying Emersons. The edge retention and straight up cutting performance isn't the same, that said they cut just fine, are tough as nails and have a geometry I can trust not to break in extremes. Not to mention ergonomics and blade design that are more conducive to defense. Like if I could get a Shaman thicknesses blade on a P'kal I'd never carry anything else. But I understand that's not Spyderco's design philosophy. And their defense philosophy focuses on cutting rather than poking, favoring thin sliciness to robust penetration. There's also issues with the finger choils possibly snagging on clothes or getting 'stuck' if the blade twists in material.
Not to mention Emerson has steped up their customization options with anodized Ti parts, various thumb studs, as well as compatibility with Steel Flame clips.

I like it as an overbuilt folder. But it's mostly just a utility knife. It's choil and handle don't make it the best choice for defense. Beautiful knife though, very well made, thick as a brick with a slim cutting edge.SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:51 am

This absolute beauty came in yesterday and went right into my pocket! This is my fifth Waynorth, but my first with steel construction. The bone jigging and dye is phenomenal. It is a masterpiece. I am super appreciative to have landed this one.
Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
They do! They also have some of the new Queen stuff and a few GEC. Plus some European makers.SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:45 amGood looking knife Jeff… Boker makes some beautiful stuff and I like their logoOld Town has quite the collection but I haven’t been there in a minute, need to make a visit.

Thanks, Jeff! It is just that. Built by GEC for Charlie Campagna.JSumm wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:39 pmLooks good! Like a sheepsfoot swayback pattern.Enactive wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:08 pmPXL_20250126_160220448.PORTRAIT.ORIGINALsm.jpg

Your Boker is quite nice too. Their Solingen made knives are top quality.
Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
So it is a GEC. Nice!! Unfortunately, my Boker is of the cheaper variety. It is the "Made in Germany" Traditional Series and not the Made in Soligen Germany stuff. I think they have parts made all over the world and assemble them in Germany. The blade is D2 so pretty sure the blade is made in China, but they are a little doggy about that.Enactive wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:51 pmThanks, Jeff! It is just that. Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Sounds about right. I bought a jigged bone medium/ small Boker stockman some years ago. It was of the same series. Assembled in Germany of Chinese made parts. The walk and talk was disappointing, but it is a functionally good knife.JSumm wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 2:05 pmSo it is a GEC. Nice!! Unfortunately, my Boker is of the cheaper variety. I ended up gifting it to my dad. He lost track of his old pen knife, so I hope it's getting some use. I'll have to ask him.

To me, this looks like something Bob Terzuola would have designed, then someone added a deep finger choil.
Going back to Caly.
