Very similar to the Recons, just a little shorter and slimmer. I could see it being good for when wearing slacks etc.

The reason I haven't been posting many Manix pictures in the gen discussion area is because the Recon pretty much replaced it for me.

It was the closest thing I could find to a lockback C95 Manix with no choil (though I can still choke up if I want....which I never do on either knife tbh)

MUCH better contouring, zero play unlike C95's, more edge, lower profile clip interferes with ergonomics less, none of the handle jimping I always disliked on the XL's, slimmer in the pocket, lockback like the original C95, just enough extra handle space for when I wear gloves.....oh, and a regular price of $88-95 vs $237 for the DLC Manix XL.

I was super pumped for the micarta cruwear Manix XL sprint when they announced it, but I still haven't gotten one. These are less than half the price, work better for me, and no real corrosion concerns compared to satin cruwear and uncoated liners.

This GEC 81 in ebony is just excellent. As is typical, i am needing to tune up the factory edge quite a bit. They do not sharpen their knives like Spyderco does, but i find them quite worthwhile nonetheless.

Always wanted to try a While River and when I dropped by Going Gear to pick up my Native Chief Salt these two caught my eye: Model 1 Pro and the White River/Going Gear Ursus Cub collaboration, both in magnacut…really liking them so far 👏

I can’t remember the last time I carried a folding knife that wasn’t a Spyderco.
And I’m not sure I’ve carried this knife at all despite owning it for several years. Without diving into all the side effects of my knife illness, let’s jump right to the interesting part. This weekend I felt a rare urge to change things up. My plan was to chop up and move as much of this seasons windfall back home for further processing before it gets buried in snow. Hard-ish work for sure, and while it’s not folder work, there’s lots of potential for adjacent “dirty” tasks, so I wanted something with a robust blade geometry.

Since I recently found out how to sharpen this one, I’ve been carrying it around a lot. Victorinox serrated hawksbill:

My understanding is that knife comes in a 4 inch version. Is this true? I'd really like one with a 4 inch blade but can never find one. Who has them?

That's the biggest version, it's 3.6".

Not being 4" is what stopped me from getting one until recently. It has almost the exact same sharpened length as my XM24 though, and has never felt any less capable but I do still wish it was 4".

Here's a comparison to a Millie and XM24:

I'm assuming you'll want the 3V version instead of SK5. Keep an eye out at Midway. They sell them as low as $80 there a few times a year, which is a crazy good value. Regular price isn't bad either, $100.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1025870355?pid=192245

Mine is a tank. Got a back-up in olive green too. I'll get a third someday, it's a very good price for an extremely good knife.

The SK5 version is nice too, but I prefer them stripped like the 3V, and I prefer the flat saber ground 3V grind too. The SK5 is hollow saber ground, which can slice a little better, but it has less mass so it doesn't baton, chop, pry etc. as well. Considering the SRK isn't designed as a pure slicer, I think the beefier flat saber grind suits it better.

You'd also appreciate the sharper swedge on the 3V.

That said if anyone reading wants to try an SRK as cheap as possible, CKW has the FDE for under $30. https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/cold- ... ark-earth/ Absolute steal at that price.
