I'm calling it right now. The Rubicon will be a smash hit. I don't want one, I NEED one!

The Marcin Bowie is incredible. I foresee this as a personal favorite high end EDC/user.

A++!

The Rubicon was so sweet to handle. The action on the knife is very close to the custom from the year before. Taichung did a **** of job in recreating the same look, feel and action of the custom version. I was really amazed. This one will push the Southard out of my pocket.

The Marcin Sluys Bowie is a nice alternative to a large Sebenza. Comparable size, bladeshape, construction... and I love the rounded spine on the blade. Super sweet Sluys knife and again flawlessly executed by the Taichung maker.

Those 2 are on my hitlist of sure! Both contenders for the Spyderco of the year :D
Current EDC: Techno, Squeak, Southard Flipper, Caly 3.5

New Arrivals: Chap3, Domino, Sage 3

2014 Wishlist: Yo2 CF, Deviant Friction, Tatanka, Tusk, Firefly

Oldies Wishlist: Delica CF PE, Civilian CF PE

How did the Farid K2 and the Slysz Bowie compare in hand? I realize they are a different size, but is that the only major difference?

The "bug" on the handle will be slightly proud in production. We felt that recessed would catch dirt.

The Rubicon looks great, except for the clip (looks like it came off a CRKT Ripple).

I had a similar reaction. But the Wharncliffe 4 and Native 5 LWT remain at the top of my list. I'd like to know the weight of the Bowie design.

Yes!!!! Finally a knife to get excited about...the Rubicon just bumped the Firefly right out of the top slot. I need one badly and will take that awful clip off right away!

I love the looks of the Rubicon. I sure wish the blade was half as thick, though. That might be a show stopper for me.

Rubicon is very nice. I hope that it will be affordable.

I don't want to look at and see pictures of the Marcin Slysz Bowie until it comes out! It's gonna be torture, so until then I'm gonna try to "forget" about it. Yeah right, who am I kidding... It is now number one on my list as far as new designs go.

I like the blade shape of the bowie and cts-xhp would be tempting too. So much S30V coming from Taiwan.

I would like to know the blade thickness because that is a deal breaker for me on the Techno and Chubby. I hope it isn't 4-4.5mm also.

The K2 is very large compared to the Bowie. The K2 is a beast. It has a wider handle and the scales are not rounded off so they lay less comfortable then the Bowie. The Bowie has slightly rounded scales. Also the detailing on the Sluys is neather then the K2. Take for exemple the nice rounded spine, jimping on the blade and stonewash. I also prefer the wireclip and tip up carry on the Sluys. Only the steel on the K2 is sweeter then on the Bowie.

In my hand the overly large K2 felt a little clunky. The Bowie fitted like a glove, I looked to my neighbour on the meet and we both said "Sebenza Killer" ;) I made my choice on the spot, the Bowie is a must have, the K2 is a nice to have when there is budget left, which I doubt after all the things I saw on the meet, **** you Spyderco :D

BEST of Show!

#337

Post by LC Kid »

Hi Folks!

It's Official: The BEST of Show goes to the Slysz Bowie!
:) In fact, I don't have to see anymore. The Slysz Bowie is at the very top of any possible list.

I've seen and handled before the actual Marcin Slysz Custom Bowie Folder, and that's the reason why I was very interested in the Spyderco version for such a wonderful knife.

While the Marcin Slysz Custom Mouse is almost identical to the Spyderco Techno, the Custom Bowie doesn't have the Round Hole, but this Spyderco version has made it waaay better than the original one.

The ergos are superb, the round spine is a very nice touch, the black G10 backspacer looks awesome and I really hope the blade in this version to be in the 4 - 5 mm territory just my beloved Techno.

It's pretty obvious the Slysz Bowie is gonna be a 600 ft Home Run. Just like the Techno did kick the small seb out of my pocket, the Slysz Bowie is gonna do it with the large seb too, like forever.

Regarding the K2 - Slysz Bowie comparison, I actually like very much the K2, but is more than obvious that it is a huge beast, and I don't see myself EDCing a 4+ inch folder anywhere.

Slysz Bowie: a true keeper, plays in that field where I'll buy 2 of them in a blink. And why not a third?
:D

Thank you friend, that mostly confirms what I am seeing in the pictures and visualizing in my mind based on the dimensions.
