This version has the CPM S30V blade. My other “trailing point” version has the older CPM 440V blade.

Cool...I was curious as its an older model. Which I'm not too familiar with. Bought my first Spyderco about 4 years ago. So I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the older ones . Thats a cool little knife!

Thanks, Pacu. I do have quite a few Spydies (over 80 at last count :smiling-cheeks), many of which are older models from the late 90s, 2000s. Some have been in storage for years but I’ve recently retrieved a boxful for “rotation” carry.

Some of us older Spyderco fans will remember those old days when CPM S30V was the latest & greatest! :winking-tongue

Just gave this one a spa treatment, it belongs to my best friend and serves a hard life as an auto mechanic's multitool. This knife cuts anything that needs cut, scrapes anything that needs scraped. I forgot to get before pics but the scales were caked with grease and dirt, even the lock tang notch was so full I was surprised it even locked. The edge was utterly destroyed, you can still see remains of chips in the serrations. I decided to repair this edge as a a standard V ground edge which gave it a small bevel along the back just to try to toughen up the edge some.

No idea what's on the blade, it's a stain of some sort. We talk a lot about toughness this and that, but remember that your edge angle will effect this as much or more than steel type, at least up to the point of breaking the blade completely. S35VN has also proven to be very forgiving during sharpening, I fixed a chip in the plain edge section towards the tip that had to be .5mm deep/wide and I only had a Sharpmaker and CBN rods to do it.

I got these two in today both of which are parts in two different projects. Looked heaven and earth over for both of these knifes just like they are, just wanting the blades DLC'd.

So here we go with the projects anyway lol.
