Thx! That is my user XL. Only wish the blue accents in the cf where more clear in the picture.
But i took it indoors with artificial light so just glad it was somewhat decent. :smlling-eyes

The only knife I brought on this trip.

Does well for how small it is, but I do miss a longer blade especially for food prep on hikes or in the accomodations with their notoriously superdull kitchen knives...
...
For the weight, it's hard to find a better travel companion.
I do agree though, it's not ideal when doing lots of food prep. It's one reason I really hope we'll eventually see a SXL LW salt in FFG CE. I know you're not a fan of the tip strength, but for an allround lightweight knife I think it would be hard to beat.

PS. We have almost the same weather. Clear blue skies and not even a hint of wind here. There is that -12C/10F on the thermometer though, judging from your choice of trousers I guess there's maybe a couple of degrees warmer on your end.
I think an even better travel companion would be the Pac Salt SE in ffg (so the LC variant), especially when some food prep is to be expected:
I mean, still only 72 grams (2.6 oz) for 96 mm (3.78) of blade is crazy light! (Even a Manix 2 lightweight is over 10% "heavier")

As you know the thin red line Endura really brought me back to comboedges.
And so: Yes, a Stretch XL lightweight in partially serrated would be great indeed (does not matter much to me if a Salt or in VG 10). And in ffg it is just a hair "heavier" than a Pac Salt (77 gram / 2.7 oz)
But especially when travelling I do prefer the a bit reinforced tip of the Pac Salt 2 ffg indeed.
Now the H2 Stretch XL Salt WILL have an a bit stronger tip due to the hollow sabre grind. But exactly that grind will also make it a bit "less good" for food prep...

/ Weatherwise not much has changed here... ;) (pic)

Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

After the mod, I like mine quite alot with the pokey tip. That plain edge near the tip is long enough for fine, detailed cutting chores. It's a fierce competition between my moded SE Salt2 and the SE wharnie Delica in VG10. To each his own.

i've thought about this before, but this picture reminds me how wonderful a combination this would be for a couple of salts.

if the rockjumper had a little more of a sheepsfoot shape, it would make an excellent rescue/salt model with serrations.

pair that with a leafjumper salt and you'd have all bases covered in a wet environment. or, pair it with the k390 leafjumper when you're not in a wet environment.

the idea of having a robust handle that feels the same between knives with different purposes is appealing to me.

nice photo, salty! i wish i was in the woods today.
