Now this is interresting.
This is the third year I have posted my mushroom hunting knife and this is the first time there has been debate about the type of knife to use. I like it!

I've really gotten attached to the sage. Its my EDC. I have several really nice spydies that have become hangar queens since I got the sage.

I found the morels near Edwardsville, IL. They are starting about 10 days early this year. I miss the Lum. It was my favorite looking knife ever and scary sharp. The sage I don't think looks the best, but feels the best in my hand of any knife i've had.

Go to walmart and get a $10 gerber? I would hate to have any of those confiscated.

That is what I did for a recent business trip. Bought a "Winchester" 3" linerlock from walmart. flicks easily open with a thumbstud. I felt a lot better about checking that cheapie into my checked luggage.

It's ...

I feel your pain. A couple weeks ago I lost my Bob Lum Chinese Folder in the woods. It's hopelessly lost. I was very sad.

I replaced it with a Sage and I'm happy again.

2009 Hunting Knife

This year I'm taking my Bob Lum Chinese Folder mushroom hunting. It was purchased from the nice folks at Grand Prairie Knives. The Morels are hitting in central Illinois.

Last year's knife was a Kopa.

Trojan virus on bladeforums

I picked up a trojan on bladeforums today.
My McAfee caught it right away.

I contacted Spyderco Customer Service.

They were very nice and said that the missing screw is important and they will be mailing me one.

If you are missing this same screw, you should contact Spyderco.

Thanks

I love my Lum Chinese Folder.

I never noticed it, but mine is missing the exact same screw.

Hopefully someone from Golden will tell us if this screw is necessary.

I have two Delicas. A FFG VG-10 with G10 handle, and also a Wave with VG-10. Both of them were wicked sharp when new and easily take a touchup with a Sharpmaker.

spyder hole cut with laser?

My Kopa has a very obvious helical tool mark winding through the hole. Sure looks like it was made backing a tool out of the hole after it was cut. I'm not sure all spyders are cut with lasers. Sal?

surprises when you actually hold it

This weekend I went to my local knife shop expecting to buy a Lava and wanting to take a look at a Barong.

I've always liked the looks of the Lava and after reading so much about it here, I was surprised that it just didn't feel right in my hands. I have kind of large hands. I wear XL gloves. The ...

Several years ago (at least 12) I had a knife stolen from my luggage when flying with TWA. I filed a claim and received a check from them for $40 in a few weeks. I don't recall what the make of the blade was. They make it difficult to recover your money. You have to file a claim, in writing, within ...

Of course it woud be dangerous. It's a knife. :D

My suggestion to make a corkscrew from a wave delica was intended to be a joke.

corkscrew

Just thinking outloud here.

How about a linerlock wave, so you could over-rotate the blade and use it to hold the top of the bottle when using the corkscrew?

Forgive my rough drawing. I'm in a hurry and things were a little out of scale.

Thanks

why do you EDC?

I love when you are cutting something for a NKP and they ask why you EDC. DUH. ;)

When sheeple ask me why I EDC. I tell them the story of when my wife and I were first dating. We were both skydivers at the time. My wife got her jumpsuit caught on the plane and the pilot pulled out his EDC ...

FRN cost effective?

i agree that an H1 FRN jess horn would be classy, cost effective, and most awesome. :D

I think it's a popular misconception that FRN would be cost effective. To build the mold to make FRN is very expensive. Each FRN handle is very cheap, but you have to add to that the cost of the tooling. It ...
