I am getting closer but I just can't seem to get the slightly curved part sharp of the Talon. What else can I try. I am been working at it on and off for 2 weeks with some improvement.

Thanks for the response. I am embarassed to say that I don't know what a 10X loop is. It is some sort of magnifier right. Thanks.

Sal,

Just wanted to add that I have been following step 1 except one time I got impatient and for about 20 strokes I changed to step to early in the process thinking that I would work faster. I only did it for one series and changed back to the recommendation right away. Thanks.

Sal - Question about sharpening hawkbills

Sal,

I know that you are busy but I wanted to ask you directly. I have a Sharpmaker 204 and I am trying to sharpen a Kershaw Talon with ATS 34. I have put in almost 2 hours trying to sharpen the blade with a 40 degree angle with almost no luck. The only sharp part is on the part of the blade ...

Jeff,

I love my CRKT small KFF. It is a great knife for the price. I also own a fully serrated Delica and I love the steel, the lockup and the comfortable handle. Although the Delica is not nearly as heavy as the KFF, it performs as well or better than any heavy knife at its size and price range.

Yog,

I meant that it will come with a video. Not "I will come with a video" as I posted. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Yog,

Get a Sharpmaker 204. I will come with a video to show you the technique for sharpening serrations. You can find them for around $50.

Alf,

It is a plain edge. I have worked on it and worked on it and it is starting to come around. It almost looks like the right side edge is almost bending over onto the left side of the knife a bit and the left side is definately ground less. I am trying to get the correct angle. Also, will all ...

Alf,

Thanks for the response. My Sharpmaker is farely new. I have sharpened clip points but no hawkbills. I have played around with the angle and sometimes it seems like it is getting close and then I keep going and it gets worse again. Does this happen to you?? Anything else I can try??

Sharpmaker Question

I am trying to Sharpen a Kershaw Talon Hawkbill ATS 34 blade with my Sharpmaker 204 using the suggested steps in the instruction manual and am having no luck. I have probably put at least 160 strokes on each side with the medium stones. Any suggestions on technique??
