Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

The compression lock is probably the least lefty friendly lock I've used. Never feels very secure or smooth during unlocking or closing. I much prefer backlocks or liner locks.

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

This thread has legs. My view is the the OP, and others, are really angry at scalpers/opportunists and not so much at Spyderco. However, it is true that only Spyderco can change the current dynamic by producing more, since the other parties are not going to change. That said, I don’t think it is Sp...

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

As a fan, I find it sad that people think Spyderco should keep making slow sellers just because they missed the boat back when. No kidding. They need to bring back the Rock Lobster first. And now they should list some of the "future hot" knives so we can buy low. I've had my fingers crossed for the...

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

Edit : Here's an exemple, with prices being mentioned at the end of the thread https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/spyderco-slysz-bowie.1556493/ The end of February is not when it was discontinued. The production run was not bought by "scalpers" and prices did not increase as drastically as quickly...

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

Regarding the second part of your post : Nah, scalpers are scalpers, don't find them excuses. Bunch of people rushed to buy the knife at any online retailers as soon as it got discontinued. People have a bad memory about it, the price went up immediately after that. Respectfully, this is not true. ...

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

I have a slightly different take on this, I think the current demand for the slyz bowie is a result of Spyderco offering so many desirable models at the same time. The Slyz Bowie is one that I, and alot of people I am guessing, wanted to buy but missed it. We just assumed, being such a great knife,...

Re: Are we actually sharpening the carbides?

I've been reading about this myself, today. So I guess the steel solution/matrix that surrounds the carbides is strong enough to keep those little nuggets of carbides in place along the edge while we abrade them? Previously I had assumed that when you got the edge to the size of the carbides, they'd...

Re: As a fan, it's sad Spyderco isn't adressing the slysz bowie problem.

Increased demand and value for a discontinued item produced by a manufacturer of items that often sell extremely well during their production runs due to the perception of increased demand and value in the future - does not really seem like problem? I think the balloon value of the C186Ti is a boost...

Eduard Bradichansky. No new designs or projects (IIRC he was killed by the Hamas), but I'd looove a H1 (or LC200N) SpyderCard.
I came to post similar sentiments. His designs were among the most interesting.

Re: Solving the issue of things we ask for

I've never really been impressed with the custom shops I've seen. 2 maybe 3 steel options and then some handle and screw colors. It seems like dealer exclusives are a better investment. Specifically to Buck - look at how the SK Blades Marksman came out compared to what you could get at the custom sh...

Re: Humble petition and poll for keeping the liner lock Military in the lineup, if there´ll be a comp.lock Millie 2

I prefer the liner lock to the compression lock. It's easier and safer to unlock as a lefty. Even though I have the lefty Military I actually like the regular Military better than the lefty version because tripping the lock left handed is faster and requires less dexterity.

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

The crazy increase on the LC200N models seems like a huge ball drop on someones part at Spyderco. Either they did the math wrong in the first place, or LC200N got way more expensive in December. Models that have been out a matter of weeks get a 25% increase in price? How is that not going to p**s p...

Re: Are you comfortable with VG-10 at 15dps?

I'd be comfortable with VG-10 at 15 dps because it seems like the issues with apex folding are based on a specific laboratory test and not what the blade does when cutting a given material out in the real world. Definitely not. If you can't get any chipping or rolling with 7.5 dps then it's not act...

Re: MAP pricing policy favors amazon. Bad for vendors (that are not Amazon) and consumers.

Wow. Talk about self-righteous indignation. Maybe some folks here need to spend less time worrying about how others spend their money. The "brick and mortar" stores that I've visited have limited selections and are staffed by people who know far less about knives than I do. Higher prices, smaller s...

Re: Are you comfortable with VG-10 at 15dps?

I was reading about this today as I'm sharpening my VG10 E4 at 7.5 dps for some edge retention testing. I'd be comfortable with VG-10 at 15 dps because it seems like the issues with apex folding are based on a specific laboratory test and not what the blade does when cutting a given material out in ...

Re: Any blade play in the New Green Pac Salt?

Mine had pretty bad side-to-side play that seems to be going away the more I use the knife. Perhaps the integral bearing surface of the FRN handles was too proud for the tang thickness?

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

2005-2015 was a heady time. There were more than a few table top dealers that would work with price quantity discounts. New models were coming fast and furious with all sorts of interesting shapes and steels and features. E4/D4 came out, the Manix came out and then got revamped, PM2 and then Para 3....

Re: Spyderco MSRP Increase for 2021?

A Delica’s street price has almost doubled in price in five years. I get raises at work and I understand how inflation works. These price increases are outpacing inflation and that is most folks’ complaint. I’ll still be a fanboy but I only bought a handful of knives last year and I suspect I will ...

Re: The illustrious vertical thumb ramp, why...

This is the first I've conceptualized the ramp as a separate feature. Looking at my collection I seem to greatly prefer folders with the thumb ramp. Of the dozen or so Spydercos I have the only ones without a ramp are the Native Salt, and perhaps the Spyderco Dodo but that seems marginal for ramp/no...
