Holy Cow! In the Spyderco catalog, the C80GBK sold for under $50 when it was discontinued.

Pretty good "Return on Investment".

I've noticed that it's a delicate balancing act. That is, choosing a knife that's large enough to be useful, yet not too large to creep everyone out at the office. I know for sure that if I were to show up with a large scary-looking "Silence of the Lambs" knife, I would be instructed by Human ...

I did not intend to step on any toes or the like. I just meant that if *I* was not happy with the knife, then *I* would return it. That's all.

Sorry if it sounded that I was complaining or bad-mouthing anything or anyone. Just sayin' what I would do.

I can only say what *I* would do (yep, I'm the lone voice here).

I would return the item for two reasons:

1) You should get what you pay for and I'm quite sure Spyderco would agree.
2) Sypderco would NOT want a knife like that one sold. That is, they have a VERY good reputation concerning their ...

To me the action is a lot like spreading mayonnaise on a slice of bread. Just don't press too hard and not too much of a angle.

Just don't give up please; you WILL master this and it is a cool skill to have for those of us with sharpening-OCD. Best of luck

You know, there's just something about doing a job with a wonderful tool <insert joke here> like a spider.

Sometimes, when I'm working on something, I'll think to myself, "Dang, I like this knife!". Especially when they work so wonderfully at their assignment.
