Not that this really answers your question, but I've had a coated NON Spyderco blade rust. It developed rust spots along the uncoated portion of the edge. I'd suspect Spydercos would be prone to that weakness as well, if improperly cared for.

To my knowledge, steel is only hazardous to your health if you choose it to be, while cigarettes are harmful no matter what.

Good choice, steel is better than tobacco. Welcome to the forum

Scorpions glow under a black light, try it, it's pretty cool to see. That's how they're hunted by entomologists. ;)

anyone have a shot showing how the tang looks? G2 A while back someone took an X-ray of the tang, to show that it is in fact a partial tang, it protrudes about 1/3 of the way into the handle. I'll see if I can find that thread, but I'm not optimistic about my skills with the search function, as I'm...

It's not so much a time thing, as it is a feel. When I can feel the edge not cutting as cleanly as it usually does, I'll touch up the edge. Given my current profession, that can be mean months at a time before I need to sharpen.

Despite that it's not the proper use for a knife, I've used the ATR to pry open cans when the can opener went missing. That tip is extremely strong, and will have no problems piercing anything. If you need to put a hole in something, the ATY can do it for you :p

My wish list of one handled knives is somewhat short:

Spyderco:

Phoenix
Native IV

There are a few older models I'd still like to try out, but just haven't gotten around to them. I.e. the Poliwog.

In due time, in due time.

I have no experience with the Alias models, but I can vouch for the quality of the Mayhem. Mine is still going strong after a a year and half of flipping and using it. With the exception of some cosmetic scratches and a slightly chipped tip from hitting ceramic tile, it still flips like it did when ...

I'm likely the last person you guys would expect to say this, but restricting balisongs/automatics may end up being better in the long run, at least for me ;) It'll force me to make my own Balisongs  Just gotta look on the bright side of everything :p Less money spent on balis means more money...
