Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

Great pics, folks! This week’s winner is abbazaba, because I’m a sucker for perspective shots. Thanks for making me really want an M4 PM2! https://i.imgur.com/7dB54LD.jpg And our runner-up is Spydergirl88. Big thanks to BRANDON at the SFO!

I took a break from a business trip in Longmont to make the pilgrimage to Golden, and Brandon made it the highlight of my trip. He patiently showed me everything I've ever been interested in, without any sign of annoyance (and I can be annoying at times). In the end, I bought the G-10 Stretch 2 in Z...

Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week Contest!

Hey everyone, my bad for the delay. Judging just slipped my mind last week! Thanks for all the submissions, as always, it was a difficult to choose. Winner this week is cptdean . I really like the detail shot and the soft lighting! Not as common as the full knife shots. Well done. Runner...

Who here carries a fixed blade in your front pocket, and whatcha got?

Do you do it? Does it really make sense over so many excellent folding knives? Is it comfortable, and what are the advantages in a knife small enough to carry this way?

I'm asking all of this because I'm thinking it might be fun to give it a try. Thanks!

I used both my M390 Para 3 and my S110V Native 5 LW to break down three LARGE boxes my daughter's new bed/fort/slide came in last night.

Re: Larger Chaparral?

What is your preferred lock type? I love the compression locks because I do sit and fidget with my knives. I haven’t tried a Manix 2 yet, and I don’t mind more back locks if they get the job done. I’m really not into liner locks and frame/integral locks. I’d choose the PM2 blade stock over those.

Larger Chaparral?

I like how slicey my Chaparral is, but I’d prefer it to be as big as my PM2. What’s the best slicer in that size class? (think apple slicing and box cutting)

Re: Who uses Sharpmaker exclusively?

One idea I had for the sharpmaker was to make extra wide stones for it. Stones with a base the same size as a regular sharpmaker stone so they fit in the base, but after the first inch or so, they become as wide as a normal bench stone. Seems like a no-brainer. You get the benefits of the sharpmake...

8" is about the minimum I'd suggest for any bench stone outside of dedicated travel sharpeners.

Agreed. So a coarse 8" DMT diamond, and a medium and fine Spyderco 302. Anything else is gravy.

Re: Who uses Sharpmaker exclusively?

I think that sounds like a really good idea as long as you're able to get proficient with free hand sharpening. You may even skip the ultrafine at first and use the medium and fine. The fine leaves a pretty polished edge. Really the sharpmaker itself is a nice travel kit. Everything in the base set...
