Re: Help me decide on a Salt
if you’re coming to the pacific, you need a pacific! that’s the logic i used when i moved to hawaii. :) i know you said that’s too big, but it’s really great. if you really thin it’s too big, i’d say the salt would be the way to go. if you think you’ll be doing a lot of boating or other activities w...

Re: Pacific Salt Serrated Passaround?
fair enough. i don’t think it would be comfortable for heavy work, but few pocket knives really would be. the manix 2 is one of those for me. the pacific would be fine, but not as good. aside from that, i don’t believe the pacific is purpose built for hard use. it’s fine as a pocket knife, but it’s ...

Re: Small Knives VS Large Knives
i always carried the largest knife i could until my office made a rule only allowing small knives. now i like to carry a large knife and a small knife to cover my bases. i find the manix 2 lw and the dragonfly 2 salt se make a really nice pair.

Re: Pacific Salt Serrated Passaround?
i have no experience there, but i’ve seen people use junky kershaw knives for that, so i imagine the pacific salt would work. it seems like the serrations wouldn’t be ideal for type of work, but at least the knife has a simple construction and is relatively easy to clean up.

Re: Pacific Salt Serrated Passaround?
ladybug What do you call heavy work ? And light work for that matter. hmm... i’ve never really thought about quantifying it... light work, to me, is any normal day-to-day cutting. thinking along the lines of opening packaging, cutting line, maybe cutting food, etc. light tasks that don’t require a ...

One more to show the difference in blade length.... https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1766/41195638750_9b6a5b4b8b_c.jpg Untitled by Six Pound Cat , on Flickr It took me a good 10 seconds to realize this is two knives together. I thought something crazy was going on with those serrations. As far as siz...

Re: Pacific Salt Serrated Passaround?
sorry you didn’t like it. i find it to be super light and carry great for it’s size. so good, in fact, i often carry it as a backup knife in my waistband. it’s always in my waistband of my running shorts for workouts and in my waistband of my board shorts at the beach or pool. i bought this knife sp...

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?
stonewash +1! the maxamet native lw stonewash blade is amazing. i wpuld love to see some cruwear/4v/3v blades with this finish. all i want is an od green manix 2 lw with a stonewashed lc200n blade and a matching native. i'd also take the same pair blacked out. and while we're making requests, since...

Re: I want to buy one knife to last me ~10 years
i would recommend the manix 2 lw over all others for edc because it’s a really great knife and the ergos are perfect. unfortunately, the blade length is over 3” because of the finger choil. in that case, the native 5 lw is the natural second choice. personally, i’d wait for the salt coming out somet...

Re: why no buy, sell, trade section?
it seems like people here would want to buy, sell, and trade knives pretty often, but i don’t see a space for that anywhere. is it forum policy to not do that here? Correct! :) i figured that must be it. it didn’t make sense that there wasn’t a section to do so otherwise. i looked around for a foru...

Re: Strength: G10 vs FRCP?
i actually like the feel of the frcp. it grips the hand like nothing else and feels completely secure, especially on a model like the manix 2, which seems like it was built to become an extension of your hand as soon as you grab onto it. it’s perfect. i tried to convince myself i needed another knif...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
manix 2 lw in cts-xhp (main carry knife - right pocket)
pacific salt se (in case i end up at the beach - iwb)
dragonfly 2 salt se (backup/cute, sheeple friendly blade - left pocket)
maybe it’s overkill, but it makes sense to me.

Re: Manix Backlock Sprint poll
i would like the backlock manix to be slimmer in the pocket. i don't understand why they would change the (almost) perfect ergonomics by making it so thick. if the manix backlock was the same thickness as the rest of the manix lineup, i'd have one for sure, especially if it came in stonewashed lc200n.

Re: Why no DLC on more carbon steel knives?
i wish the native 5 salt would come with dlc. it looks a little silly to me with black hardward and no dlc. a completely blacked out version would be even better. i like the yellow handles alright, but not so much for an edc. i'll still buy one though. any idea on the release date? i've been watchin...
