Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Do we have any updates if this problem has been resolved and Sirens available at dealers are updated stock or old with this potential problem ? Really like this design . MG2
I would count on any you can find currently in stock right now to potentially have this issue. Even after the fix is ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Once we have it sorted, we'll replace any knife for which the customer is not happy.
And that is what keeps me coming back to Spyderco!
For me personally, and in my current knife usage journey, the wait was too long. Maybe I'll buy again in the future. That said, I have complete faith that the ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
This is why I responded to all of this in the first place. Unrepeatable AND unexplained are exactly NOT what anyone should have false fears about. I completely agree with being concerned about the lock issue. I think everyone should report whatever really happens with their knife and let's talk ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Does anyone know what Spyderco will likely do when the CQI version finally makes its appearance? Will they offer the CQI version as an even exchange for the v1 or will it be on us to buy the CQI version if that's what we need/want?
Check the bladeforums thread. Sal has said that they will be ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
To be fair your report proposes a theory that even you admit can't be replicated. If it can't be replicated it's simply not credible and I'm just being objective and mean no offense by that.
I disagree. One off, unrepeatable events occurring are the exact fear a reasonable person should have ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
It could still potentially be a safety issue. If somehow the lockbar got stuck in the up position during use after lock slip occured.
Like maybe under hard use the lockbar slips up and then the meat of your hands or gloves kind of fill the lockbar well and the the lockbar doesnt reslip back into ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Giving this topic a bump over here. On bladeforums we've been getting a monthly update but nothing yet this month.
Hoping for a plan to fix knives for those customers who want the issue addressed on their knives!

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
It seems like this knife's designer isn't up to typical Sypderco standards. Baffling how a designer could study decades of functional back lock geometries, then design this failure. Oh wait, maybe he didn't study anything and just winged it. That probably explains the too small Spydiehole also ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
I have not contacted them directly yet. Other than Sal's post there has been nothing from Spyderco I'm aware of.
Thanks for the tip on keeping the thumb on the lock bar. It requires little pressure to keep the bar from pushing up, so that's a small blessing.
I love the design, but these little ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Over on bladeforums, Sal has said they are still looking into the issue and have not come up with a solution yet but are still on the case.

Re: Seki or Golden Yellow?
While I don't own any Golden FRN that is yellow, I think I like the Seki better. I think both would dye green just fine though so either is okay by me!

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
To summarize, I don't think this is a safety issue in that the lock seems to pop back into place when pressure is released on the blade. That said, I get lock and blade movement fairly easily. It is very disconcerting and I don't fully trust the lock, and thus the knife. The blade should not be ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
Here's a couple posts I made over on bladeforums with pics:
My Siren also does this. I will say that it does take quite a bit of force to get this to happen. Still though, I'd expect this to not happen at all. This is a flaw that should be addressed. Checked all my other Spyderco lock backs ...

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
I'd worry more about wear on the lock at the point the slipping occurs. It almost makes an audible "pop" when the lock completely disengages.

Re: Siren - strange lock movement
As I said on bladeforums, mine does this. I'll be watching for a response from Sal. I'm a huge fan of Salt knives and of Lance's designs but this is a huge disappointment.

Don't bother Jabba. You'll just be called a troll because you disagree with that nonsense.
He is slowly, but surely, wearing out his welcome here.......as he has done elsewhere, and been booted.
