All locks by definition will fail. Debris, design, wear, hand placement etc. I choose folders with a choil or ricasso to protect my hand WHEN something goes wrong. This takes "strength" out of the equation and leans toward design being more important. I have had issues with a ball lock, li...

In my use CBBL and compression lock required running water to make functional (able to close). Back lock clogged easily but was easy to clear by tapping debris out of well for opening and always closed as long as handle was free of gunk. I was surprised by how easily the compression lock locked open...
