Check out this auction page Jim, perhaps this is what Sal was referring to.

I feel that one of the nice things about collecting, in general, is that there are really no rules you must follow. While I've stuck mainly to plain edge Spydercos with front locks, a few "odd" pieces have found their way into my collection. I suppose it depends a bit on what your motivati...

Had to take a new one, a few new ones seem to have miraculously appeared since I took the last "family portrait". Was a good excuse to take them all out and play with them a bit. <img src="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-9/378550/pdb_spydercos.jpg" width=640 height=507> Paul ...

Thom, while Clay may very well be right, it seems to me that the following might work. Instead of attempting to construct the right (liner side) handle as one piece, find a piece of suitable material the same thickness as the liner recess in the original handle. Cut the shape of the liner recess int...

PE for me. Own 37 Spydies at the moment, 36 are PE, and one is CE (pobody's nerfect). The traditional look, suitablility for the tasks I most often perform with a knife, and ease of sharpening are the main reasons. It also helps save me from the temptation of acquiring multiple edge types of a given...

Three newer models that might fill the bill are the D'Allara Rescue, the Assist, and the Salt. All are full ambi except for the serrations. I may be wrong, but I think most LEOs would get a lot more use out of these types of knives that the more pointy variety.

Hi and welcome Nicky, Posted pics of my Persian with a Kiwi for size comparison a few days ago in this thread. http://www.spyderco.com/forum/topic.asp?topic_id=9810&forum_id=7&Topic_Title=Persian+photos&forum_title=General+Discussion&M=False&S=True Can't say as I've ever seen a s...

I like straight egde blades. Have three Kiwis, which Kiwis get rotated as my work day carry, and a PE Rescue. Like them all and agree the straight edge makes sharpening a breeze. Regarding using mostly the tip, it is not the case me. I use mine for opening mail, cutting/peeling fruit and sharpening ...

You're gonna love it AET, it is one sweet knife. Belive Sal said in a thread somewhere that there were no plans for CE or SE at this time. I'm a PE person myself, so this is not a problem for me, but can see where others might want the choice.

Zeppelin, unfortunately I'm in the same boat regarding the Millie, have yet to even see one of those in person, and I don't have a SS Native here either. Best I can answer is, based on Spyderco specs (which I know are sometimes wrong), it weighs slightly less than a SS Police or Endura and a fair bi...

AET, I got mine on eBay, via a BIN, from razorsharpknives (Sawyer Cutlery). Their price was pretty much unbeatable at 79.95 plus shipping, and I've dealt with them before so it was an easy choice. Every one they've put up so far has sold on a BIN, most within a few hours. Think most of the internet ...

Hi MJ, just took a couple quick ones of mine, used the Kiwi for size comparison. When you consider that the steel, quality and MSRP of these two knives is identical, the Persian is a real bargain.

Stevie, being single I wouldn't have that particular scenario to worry about, athough I'd probably shoot myself if I spent that kind of bucks and then did not like the knife. As far as the BIN price goes, from everything I've read, Jess Horn is one of the select handful of makers who's work can comm...

My Persian just arrived!

Checked the mailbox about an hour ago. It was the third time I'd checked it today and I'd just about given up hope. Considering I only purchased it with an eBay BIN on Thanksgiving Day it really was a stretch to even think it might get here today. But, thanks to super fast shipping by Sawyers, and e...

Like the others said, Patrick, go for it. I'd lean toward a concave thumb ramp, as in Alex's revision, but you can always start with the convex, slap a couple pine scales on it temporarily, see how it feels, and revise if needed. Always easier to subtract metal than to add it. Best of luck with the ...

DR, my stainless one did not come with a box, so no clue as to what the box may have looked like or been marked. Didn't get one with the white micarta either. On the other hand, my C34, and one of my C38's came in plain white boxes (just the model name and number, a barcode and a date), my other C38...

Stevie, just checked out both my micarta Horns and my JD Smith, no side play in any of the clips. Do know what you're talking about as the clip on my G10 Black Hawk does that. IMHO, based on observations made when removing clips from a few Spydercos, the screws used with a given clip vary from model...

If it's a painted clip, I'd bet the old model railroader's standby, brake fluid, would work. No worry about scratching the metal that way.
