Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
Did anyone take apart the Stretch 2 XL Lightweight? Does it have bronze washers or does the blade run on FRN? Edit: Didn't take it fully apart, so no photo, but I wanted to have all the body screw heads on the same side of the knife (from factory the handle ones are on one side and the pivot and ba...

Re: did somebody say magnacut manix...?!
I hope to one day, but being in Europe, this requires quite a bit of logistics ^^.
I thought the heat treat was already figured out a long time ago, so I was curious why they had gone back to it, hence the "Source?" :)

Re: What % of you collection has the factory edge angle?
I reprofile nearly every knife I intend to use in any cutting. Sometimes it's necessary (most Chinese OEMs, they make BTE nicely thin, then put eg 30 dps edges...), sometimes it's just that if I'm already sharpening might as well reprofile and make the edge nice. There are a couple types of knives w...

Voted military as I'm not thrilled with S30V yet really waiting for the Military 2 itself.
However I'm 99% as interested in a Native Chief in 15V :D

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?
- Tanto blades. Why would I want one? It's a mystery. I also don't "get" them, at least the "american" geometric tantos, but they seem more a trend of the past luckily - Having a "show side". I don't like janus-faced people, nor knives.. Bugs me as well. Want lightweigh...

Definitely getting one, it'll join my Police 4 LW K390 and Resilience S35VN LW in the Big Blue Blade club ^^ (also waiting for the inevitable K390/SPY27 Stretch XL to join the bunch)

Re: Sharpening & Calculating Ideal Bevel Height (trigometry!)
Regarding #1 - This would be true assuming the blade is the same thickness behind the edge along the whole length of the knife which it almost never is ^^

Re: What are your favorite large spyderco folders?
... As for the Stretch 2 LW: Let me repeat what I usually say: Instead of waiting for another steel this might be a great opportunity for trying SE - VG 10 is decent in PE, but great in SE imo and on top the XL happens to have a very nice and "non aggressive" serration pattern - gives one...

Re: S110V & ZDP-189: Not Down & Out IMO
I see ZDP going through a bit of a resurgence - there were a couple recent overseas produced releases in the ZDP-189 laminate, the MBK lineup, the Maxace Peregrine for example

Re: What are your favorite large spyderco folders?
... The Endura has a thicker and shorter blade and no usable finger choild (but it has A choil still) which are all negatives to me. ... Actually the blade stock of the Endura is thinner than the Millie and Chief stock (and as thin as the Stretch XLs). The (ffg) Endura also tapers nicely and has to...

Re: What are your favorite large spyderco folders?
I voted for the police (P4LWK390 for the win ^^) and the Stretch 2 XL though I don't own the latter, waiting for better steel. I handled the current Military and it didn't wow me for some reason. But from the changes I hope the Mili 2 will fix most of the issues. The Endura has a thicker and shorter...
