Bingo! Got me a Pingo! This super-cool little folder just arrived this afternoon...

I'll be honest: when I tried the Compression Lock for the first time, it felt alien, weird, and backwards. Now I dig it. Great lock!

Couldn't possibly rank 'em, but here's my list:

-Delica 4 (personal benchmark of what an EDC folder should be)
-Centofante 3
-Sage 1
-Para-Military 2
-Kiwi 3 SS (the most interesting modern slip-joint design to date, imo)
-Terzuola SLIPIT
-Rock Lobster (Hoorah, Master Chef! Food prep master ...

Mostly tip-up right side carry but I like tip-down on folders with longer handles--flippers too and ditto for back pocket carry (which I don't do too often.) I guess it really depends on the knife and how I'm carrying it.

I got to handle a stainless steel Cara Cara 2 just this afternoon. I don't think it's too heavy for EDC and was pretty impressed by the great fit & finish. If you like an all-stainless construction, Jeff, I say go for it!

Hmmm... I think I'm going to take my own advice and pick one up tomorrow! :)

How's about a Byrd modelled after the Spyderco Cricket? It would be super-cool to have the blade the same shape as the comet-hole for kind of a picture-in-picture effect...

My favourite Byrd is the Cara Cara 2. I've owned a few of 'em already but I can't seem to keep one in my stable. I know a couple of fellas who are police officers and I gifted my Cara Cara's to them. They love 'em, and no one is harder on their knives than ...

I think we're lucky enough to live in a day and age where you can have both looks and function at several different price-points. Is it too much to ask for both? My answer is a resounding "no"... :)

Of the three Spydies, my guess is Centofante 3, Dragonfly 2, Gayle Bradley...

Often to make a knife flickable it takes a little adjustment with the pivot, which tends to give the knife more lateral blade-play (or vertical with lockbacks).

It's fun to flick knives, I won't lie :) . It's not the best for wear & tear as you are pushing components faster and harder than they ...
