In the GB (mine anyway) the pivot pin doesn't look like the pivot pin in the Manix2. The pin in the GB is the same width all the way from end to end. The pin goes through the washer as well as the liner. The screw head then squeezes presser on the scale, liner, washer, blade tang, other washer ...

100% sure. Mine has been apart many times. The pivot is entirely a single tube with a screw going in on each side.

edit: You might be able to tell there's no pivot bushing (if you've seen one) from Gull Wing's second picture here http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?56840-M4-and-apples ...

You have an apples to oranges comparison here. Those two knives couldn't be any more different from each other. One is a pure breed slicing machine and the other is a bulldozer. If hard use is your style then go for the GB.

You're completely right, they are two very different beasts. I think I'm ...

new EDC: caly3.5 vs gayle bradley

Looking for a new edc to replace my calypso jr ss that recently failed on me. I'm debating between a caly 3.5 and a gayle bradley... I'm not sure I like the obscured hole/liner lock on the gb, but would be up for modding it if I went that route. On the other hand, while I love the ergos and g10 ...

I'm not set one way or the other in terms of pinned vs screwed construction, just as long as it will hold up to abuse, and require little maintenance...but are you sure about the the Gayle Bradley? http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... t-Bushings

Just my $.02

I don't care for the bushed/stepped pivot on the Manix 2, Yojimbo 2, and Para 2.

I like my knives to be a bit tighter and I cannot tighten them down to the point that I usually like.

It's a very small gripe but I would just like to throw it in the hat with the rest.

Some of the ...

I have an AUS-8 SS calypso Jr that has seen hard use and edc for more than a decade. The tip snapped and I had to re-grind the edge to match, but its still as tough and smooth as the first day. Very tough little knife that is quite attractive.
