Not necessarily as I understand the plan, it is cheaper to make small runs in slab construction. The plan though is if the revised choil is well received, then FRN molds will be made.

One guy on here sanded down the brown scales and I think that would look killer on yours. I can't find it, but I think he had re-ground the blade first and then sanded the scales.

How has yours held up? Have you had any edge stability issues? I just quit carrying my Southard because it did not perform well. I never "hard used" it, so I figured thinning it out would be perfect. It would be interesting to compare ours in some cut test.

Yeah, I guess with my prior posting thoughts it would no longer be 50-50. But if the radius is smaller then wouldn't the width of the choil (both the blade & scale portion) have to increase so that you could fit your finger inside the choil rather than rest it on it as is currently the case? Th...

I would guess if anything it would add to the cutting edge. The radius of the choil will get smaller, and if it is still a 50/50 choil, it would have to get longer.

I wanted it thin. It is noticeably lighter too.

Re-ground Southard

Big Chris hooked me up. He said it is .010" behind the edge and .115" right above the hole now. This thing will get a lot more pocket time. Sorry for the crappy pictures, weather is not cooperating, and I am no good at picture taking anyway :p http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/bccol...

I could go for a CRUWEAR. I love my CRUWEAR Military, and would love a gray matching PM2.

Make sure with any FRN knife you get the long clip.

Since Tom Krein isn't doing regrinds anymore to make the time for making knives full time now... There are a few Other Custom guys that will do them and they know what they are doing, Chris Berry is one of them, Big Chris Custom Knives, not sure how long the wait times are though so that would be s...

I don't care much if people can see the knife sticking out. I don't like the way it looks sticking out, but don't do it for the sake of others. It is also about comfort. I hate when too much sticks up and jabs me when sitting down. Certain pants and pockets create a bigger problem of that. I also li...

XHP has proven to have greater edge stability than S30V in my usage. That means a lot to me. It also seems to hold its razor edge longer which I like. XHP seems to be getting used a lot in Taichung. I would guess that the Para2 might end up with S35VN as the normal steel soon. Maybe we will see a li...

Have you looked at a Junior? Compression lock and medium size. The Vesuvius also is medium sized with a compression lock. The Dodo is smaller with a ball lock.

I never understood why people have difficulty getting them out of your pocket. I guess not everyone sticks their thumb IN their pocket when they pull their knife out? For me it's nearly the exact same action, I just stick my thumb in my pocket further with a deep carry clip. It does help if the off...

I love Casey's clips. I am probably one of his biggest customers. His clips and service are great. The only bad thing is he cannot make enough to keep up with my Spyderco purchases. I need to get two blue long ones for the SB's I have. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u378/bccole77/IMG_6050_zpscf...

I am leaning towards the brown G10. I just grabbed a CF Stretch and love it. The smooth CF (like the Caly 3, 3.5) is not my favorite, and I think G10 would be better. Gives me some more variety, which justifies buying another knife more, esp. since the other ZDP bladed Stretch I have is CF. I am mor...

Try a Bradley Air. Smallish, with CPM M4. I love 3.5" blades, but started with Sage's and a Caly 3 and now they are about as small as I will go. Different tastes for different people is all, I don't think you are missing anything. I think more people prefer a full sized handle, and a lot of the...
