MaNcEr; Careful, sounds like it is so short that it would be considered a "sawed off shotgun" which carries very stiff Federal punishment. Go on line & research what the regulations are for your state or call the local ATF guys & ask them, you DO NOT want to get caught with a sawed...

Mr. Janich; I was privileged to attend the MBC levels I & II and the CBC seminars with you & Matt at KI Fighting Concepts in Wenatchee, WA this past Fri., Sat. & Sun. As a former police officer & federal agent as well as a serious student of combat & personal safety I have BTDT -...

All; Good advice from everyone! We had a guy attempt suscide w/ a 10mm - shot himself twice in the chest w/ Winchester 185 gr Silvertips (contact range) realized it didn't kill him so he drove to his in-laws house (about a mile) then took a 45 min ambulance ride to the hospital - he survived! No exi...

Qship; Well considered points & excellent advice. I would add that .357, 9mm parabellum, .40/10mm all rely on bullet expansion to transfer energy from the bullet into the criminal - creating maximum trauma -stopping the fight. As you correctly pointed out hollow points tend to "plug" &...

MaNcEr; From a legal standpoint (which if you really think you might have to use your Glock for self defense should be a paramount issue, otherwise you're just posing) use the same ammo law enforcement is using. They have done the homework & know what they are doing. If you simply cannot bring y...

Rex G; Regarding your 20 Dec. post, you can weld stainless w/ a TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welder (or a MIG if it's set up for stainless). Most sheet metal shops will have one, or a welding shop, or ask around, a lot of people have them for repair work (I have a small shop & I have one). Try askin...

MaNcEr; I was a cop/Fed for 10 years & carried 2 Glock 21's, one primary, one backup - if one is good 2 is better! really! interchangeable magazines, same feel, same trigger etc. I would try the Glock site or an offical Glock dealer for the video's; if you know any police (that carry the Glock) ...

All; FYI there is a material that is soft rubber w/ an adheasive backing that would work well, as well - if you want to have a "rubberized" feel/material on your knife. You can get it in the electrical section of the big home improvement stores, it's used for re-insulating splices to large...

Ken; I agree w/ your points regarding knife selection(s). There are always, always trade-off's - "better judged by 12 than carried by 6..." However, my point was choose a knife that either is carried by law enforcement officers, like the Spyderco "Police" model or something that ...

Rex G, et al; Thank you for the web address, I will visit & learn! It has been my experience (10 yrs in state & Federal law enforcement) that public opinion regarding knifes is (if possible) even more negative & misconceieved than opinion regarding firearms. And public opinion influences...

All; Is there any data base similar to the "Ayoob Files" (firearms related) for actual situations where a person has defended him/her self w/ a knife & has been (almost certainly) arrested, then had to defend their actions in court? I read a lot of speculation as to how a court or jury...
