Re: Show your Bugs and Critters

Here's a differential grasshopper checking out my poblano plants... Not seeing a ton of them around, but there have been a handful. Big bugs.

Are all Seki steels produced there? Even K390? I hope this isnt the same fate for MagnaMax.
Used to be the case, but not recently. Regular production K390 and SPY27 are imports to Japan, as were exclusives in M390, 20CV, CPM M4, S30V, S90V, CPM Cruwear, and probably others I'm forgetting.

Re: A higher end knife question for the rich kids here.

So to the guys here who have multiples, if it were your $600 CRK to choose one, which one?

None. I'd probably buy more Spydercos or maybe finally spring for one of Benchmade's meatcrafter or fishcrafter fixed blades if you told me it had to be knife money.

I'm currently down to three CRKs ...

Re: Factory edge high carbide edges chipping

I have not noticed this to the same degree on 15V or K390, but in my experience M390/20CV/204P really benefit from a hand sharpening and are much less likely to chip after getting past the factory edge.

full sized ruckus was my favorite BM. If I saw one for a fair price I'd snag it.

710 is a classic but the thumb ramp placement was too far back for me.

they had some cool designs in the 2000's. not much catches my eye from their current catalog.

Couple of visual comparisons. Millie, Millie 2, 806, 710.

Personal taste and all but Millie 2 > all the others. I do still often carry the 710 hunting.

Your information tracks pretty well with what I remember reading about the AFCK a few years ago. There used to be more information on old bladeforums threads but it looks like a lot of those are completely gone now, not even archived.

I'll add that I got the impression Caracci might not have been ...

For just under $100, you can try some Rex45 right now if you like! Granted it is coated.

Yes, although Italian production introduces a third confounding factory for this steel 😅

Re: What is your all time favorite steel?

About the large number of Rex45 mentions vs only one for Hap40 - does that reflect a noticeable difference in performance, or just the popularity of Golden vs Seki models?

I've used a Hap40 Delica for a while now and for me it acts a lot like Cruwear with a little less corrosion resistance. But ...

Kershaw makes these striking "composite" blades.

I assume these patterns are genuine "weld" or "braze" lines? Seems overly complicated and expensive to me. I'd much rather just buy a plain old satin or stone washed "mono ...
